This data ranking shows the top countries, ranked by highest pure alcohol consumption.

Alcohol has historically, and continues to, hold an important role in social engagement and bonding for many. Social drinking or moderate alcohol consumption for many is pleasurable.

However, alcohol consumption – especially in excess – is linked to a number of negative outcomes: as a risk factor for diseases and health impacts; crime; road incidents; and for some, alcohol dependence. Globally alcohol consumption causes 2.8 million premature deaths per year.

Alcohol consumption – whilst a risk factor for a number of health outcomes – typically has the greatest negative impacts when consumed within heavy sessions.

This pattern of drinking is often termed binging, where individuals consume large amounts of alcohol within a single session versus small quantities more frequently.

Heavy episodic drinking is defined as the proportion of adult drinkers who have had at least 60 grams or more of pure alcohol on at least one occasion in the past 30 days. An intake of 60 grams of pure alcohol is approximately equal to 6 standard alcoholic drinks.

There are countries like Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania which mostly drink their home made alcohol, this can't possibly be included in a statistic. So keep that in mind

Why is czech republic and Slovakia 2 different places before 1989?

Это не может быть полностью правдивой информацией, потому что в России(СССР) с 1985-1990 был сухой закон, и потребление алкоголя упало в разы. а здесь по цифрам был рост - это неверно.

Russia
2003 20 litres
2016 12 litres
Decrease on 40%, because spirit consumption falled in 3 times.
Not bad, Russian bear!

Hello,
Are you sure your data is correct? For example, values and countries on 2016 are different, according to the Global Status Report on Alcohol and Health (2018) by the WHO, where Russia is only in the 16th place. Also, the list is wrong even for 2010, because, at least, of Belarus (17.5) and Republic of Moldova (17.9).
The data on 2016 from the WHO:
Total recorded and unrecorded alcohol consumption per capita (15+), 2016 (2015-2017 three-year average), liters of pure alcohol (all consumption converted to pure alcohol), adjusted for tourist consumption:
1. Republic of Moldova 15.2
2. Lithuania 15.0
3. Czechia 14.4
4. Seychelles 13.8
5. Germany 13.4
6. Nigeria 13.4
7. Ireland 13.0
8. Luxembourg 13.0
9. Latvia 12.9
10. Bulgaria 12.7
11. France 12.6
12. Romania 12.6
13. Slovenia 12.6
14. Portugal 12.3
15. Belgium 12.1
16. Russian Federation 11.7

The data on Russia between 2000 and 2016 looks correct, except the value of the last year is a little different (maybe, they corrected the data a bit over time).
But what's about other countries like Republic of Moldova (17.9 on 2010, Belarus (17.5 on 2010) and others that are not in the list?
Also, the data for the Russian Federation between 1990 and 2000 is incorrect: values start with 13 in 1990, to 15 in 1994-1997, and later rise with the peak of about 20 in 2003*.
