I think it's poetic how you garner a reputation as a god killer that takes it so far that you go after your own patron diety for the sake of saving the world at her very behest.

What makes me ultimately bawl about this is with Hydaelyn's farewell and your last words to her -- if you say "We'll find our way, Venat" -- it hits EXTREMELY hard since that's a callback to your conversation with her on Elpis where she asks if your journey has been good. Where she says her duty can't end until she *knows* humanity can find their way without her.

She cries and gets choked up compared to the first option where she just tears up -- not only because you'll remember her for who she was as Venat but also that you remember her words, that you assure her that you'll be okay without her, and that she can finally rest.

It is a remembrance, a farewell AND an assurance that makes it so much more powerful than the first option.

walking out of the previous dungeon into the cutscene before this trial I was filled with a sense of foreboding, at which point I started doing a headcount of the scions and went.. Wait a minute. There's eight of us. Is this about to happen? And it did. Powerful moment for me.

The lore-writing gymnastics that Yoshi-P and his team CBU3 pulled off is utterly staggering.
They make it all MAKE SENSE without making us suspend disbelief.

This fight was magical and tragic. It was indeed difficult to fight with tears in my eyes the whole time.

She looks like Yoshitaka Amano artwork brought to life faithfully as posible, wish more FFs did this. So cool. Also this fight is one of my favourite in the game. Sad so much fun learning extreme. Man this is such a good game. Wish i had time like before to run arround Eorzea.

underrated detail: the line at 1:49, Follow Stumble Wander Listen, is the name of the MSQ where you chase Meteion through Elpis to force the answer out of her.

Honestly I can't imagine doing this fight with other players. Its the one and only trial where they givey ou the option of fighting with your fellow scions and it just... makes so much more sense narratively.

Yoshitaka Amano's watercolor paintings that were used as the covers for this series has for many of us been the first thing we've ever seen of a Final Fantasy game, and it was the start of a long journey. To bring one of his art pieces to life in the form of the Warrior of Light, Hydaelyn and Endsinger, is, to me, the definition of a love letter. This game was made by people who love the _concept_ of Final Fantasy, with all their heart.

The only time I've actually shed tears playing a videogame was when I heard this music. It wasn't even the events on-screen, it was just the realization that we've come full circle and how long it took. Probably won't ever get to experience something like that again.

Notice that Venat's mid fight party wiper is the attack she shattered Zodiark with. The Scions withstood it (obviously because my WoL was Paladin was was constantly stealing damage taken from Thancred.)
