2032: “There is a good chance that finishing in the top ten will be enough to get you into the Champions League.”

Agreed? Who did they agree it with, themselves?

This is a clever move by UEFA to get more premier league teams onside. Right now you have a 'one club, one vote' policy which has kept the Premier league stable in its current format since it's inception.

Right now the 'small' clubs out number the 'big' clubs 14 - 6. Expanding all European competitions down to the conference league means eventually there will only be a handful of teams left in the prem that don't qualify for Europe and the real Super League starts.

Rats the lot of them

At this rate Sunderland will qualify for the Europa League by 2028

it makes sense at times, but if real madrid fall off, very unlikely they will but they could be in la liga 2 and get in based off history

The big clubs have to finish in top 4 as a minimum to deserve it. When "big clubs" miss out so be it, that's how it should be. Changing this champions league is totally stupid.

this is essentially a way for the big teams to have a guranteed spot in the CL, so basically Superleague 2.0 while also reducing the value of the Champions League at the same time. Well done UEFA

UEFA 2021 - "We are the good guys! The clubs trying to break away from us are doing it solely out of greed"

UEFA 2022 - …

More teams from stronger leagues leads to less nations being represented in the knockout stages. I think that is boring and unfair.

Disgraceful. For all their outrage last year, they now implement a Super League Lite through the backdoor. Absolutely disgraceful.

When you look through the history of english football, theres been times when nottingham forest have been the biggest club in england, aston villa, newcastle united, sunderland and many more have all had golden periods where they were at the top of english football above the likes of man u, liverpool and certainly city and chelsea. Yet weve come to a point where the current clubs at the top are being cemented into there positions. Completely unfair. I hope there are more takeovers near the scale of the newcastle one with clubs like villa and leeds etc so other traditional big clubs have a chance again and it stirs the "big 6" up a bit. Although even then, financial fair play basically stop teams outsode of the top 6 to ever be able to compete woth them finanically, even if they have the money. Again, just another example of how they are being cememted into their positions.

They will keep pushing for more and more teams more games etc to meet revenue demands this won't stop here. I personally think we could be looking at a major football market crash in the next decade or so. This ever expanding bubble will burst. It always does

I always thought it'd make sense for FA Cup winners to qualify for the Champions League

Eventually they'll just do away with La Liga, Serie A, Prem, etc and just have a European version. UEFA wants a ESL but they want it to be theirs, not done by some breakaway teams.

There are many clubs from different league out there that have to play qualification match despite being champion or top 3 of their league.

If UEFA want to expand the number of teams that playing in CL, why not just let those clubs qualify directly like how clubs in PL, La Liga and Serie A do, instead of coming out with new rule that kinda diminish the competition?

UEFA were against the Super league and now we know why, they want one of their own super leagues for their share of rhe profits. Sport is turning out into all out Business as if it already isn't 🤦‍♂️

It's funny how UEFA says fans are the most important when it's in their interest to say it, but when none of the fans like this type of champions league, they ignore us. The one table is just bizzare and makes no sense, and why should a 5th place in England get you a Champions League when a first place in Croatia gets you 2nd round of qualifications for Champions League (rhetorical question)? At this point, they should just give 36 places to richest clubs and let them play each other, they are obviously looking how to do it.

Call me a philistine, but I actually preferred the original format when you could watch Legia Warsaw vs Rosenborg on ITV Champions League highlights on a Wednesday night! 🙂 1 team from each country, just the Champions.

One thing I hope happens is a new rule that allows a Top Division team that wins the primary Domestic cup, e.g. the FA cup, qualification for the Champions League either through qualifiers or a play-off against the team that finished 4th. If a team that's not in the Top Division wins it then they should get promotion by at least 1 division, and if the Domestic cup winners already qualified for the Champions League or got promotion then nothing happens. This would place way more emphasis on the cup competitions in the country.
