I enjoyed the first Rambo movie out of the entire Rambo series. I just sold my last Back to the Future 4K box set this past Friday for $25. I paid $1CAD for 19 of them. As for recommending The Breakfast Club and Weird Science you should have just recommended John Hughes Yearbook Collection and it also comes with Sixteen Candles.

As for some other recommendations from 1985 are:

1. Clue
2. Commando
3. Just One of the Guys
4. Brazil
5. Real Genius
6. A View to a Kill
7. Fletch
8. Vision Quest
9. Cat's Eye
10. The Jewel of the Nile

Other classic 1985 movies:
- Brazil
- The Bride (Sting and Jennifer Beals in Bride Of Frankenstein)
- Commando (Arnold Schwarzenegger)
- Crimewave (Sam Raimi and Cohn Bros comedy, which they both hate)
- Day Of The Dead
- Fletch (Chevy Chase)
- Fright Night
- Ladyhawke
- Police Story (Jackie Chan)
- The Purple Rose Of Cairo
- Runaway Train
- Silverado (Kevin Costner got this role because Lawrence Kasden felt bad the only shot Costner got in The Big Chill was his feet).
- Spies Like Us
- The Sure Thing (Rob Reiner's prototype for When Harry Met Sally. Just take the road trip part and extend it to movie lenght.)
- Witness (Harrison Ford)

The Goonies is a cozy, rainy day watch. It's like hot cocoa.

They should pay you to sell these movies. Your enthusiasm is infectious! You got me interested in movies I’d never consider buying!

Just watched Goonies for the first time last week. That wasn’t actually the TV cut. And Weird Science is tied with Commando for my number one favorite movie of all time.

I would have mentioned The Last Dragon. A favourite as a kid and is still alot of fun 😄 Perhaps it is hard to come by on blu ray these days, I don't know 🤷

Goonies is perfect for kids! That's what it was made for! Weird Science was such a fun movie! Sixteen Candles is my fav Hughes movie.

Imo, The Goonies is one of those movies that feels like a magical adventure when you watch it as a kid (which I did) and becomes one of your favorites. I can understand why someone who only saw it for the first time as an adult wouldn't be as enthusiastic.

One of the few Arrows I own...one is Weird Science

Another sci-fi comedy in the vein of "Weird Science" released in 1985, that is a classic in my book, is "My Science Project". The Mill Creek blu-ray is available for under $10.00, and while it doesn't have much in terms of extras it does have a good video upgrade.

love that you mentioned the perfect cast for Back to the Future since they got rid of Stoltz to make it a perfect cast with Fox

That Retiurn of the Living Dead blu steel is stil on amazon, but it's listed @ $37 +. The New Kids is $4.95 @ HamiltonBook, who also has the Scream Factory Silver Bullet for $17.95.

Back to the Future is one of those films I could watch no matter what mood I'm in. As far as standalone releases I still own the vhs and DVDs (with glorious slipcovers) separately. I dont believe they sold blu rays individually though. Great picks across the board as well. Thanks for the vid!!

So many good movies from this year.. My list would have to include these gems:
1. Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon - This movie is just pure fun in my book. The epic showdown between Bruce Leroy and Sho'nuff is a lot of fun.
2. Prizzi's Honor - Jack Nicholson and Angelica Huston in a film directed by John Huston about hitmen and mobsters.
3. Gotcha! - Anthony Edwards in a fun and fast paced spy movie of mistaken identities.
4. American Flyers - Kevin Costner and bike racing but so much more.
5. Silverado - One of my favorite westerns with a huge all star cast.
6. Purple Rose of Cairo - A Woody Allen film fantasy with people walking in and out of the movie screen. Jeff Daniels is terrific.
7. The Mean Season - Kurt Russell is a news reporter who piques the interest of a serial killer during a heat wave. Very suspenseful.
8. Compromising Positions - This film is sadly only available on VHS. Susan Sarandon and Raul Julia lead the cast. Some great quotable dialogue. "Remind me never to eat her cole slaw."
9. Thou Shalt Not Kill...Except - Sam Raimi stars as a cult leader and killer. He's over the top and the film is a lot of fun.

10 Different ones for part 2. Start off with classic 80s action with none other Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Commando - Classic action that is a must watch.
Red Sonja - Was classic at least for me growing up.
Teen Wolf - Michael J Fox classic werewolf comedy.
Brewster's Millions - I highly suggest with Richard Pryor and John Candy.
Lifeforce - I thought you said you liked the movie well enough and the 4K scan looks great.
Phenomena - since you are a Dario Argento fan.
Fraternity Vacation - Young Tim Robbin college comedy that is special to me at least.
Just One of the Guys - Another special to me at least comedy I grew up with.
Police Story - Pure classic Jackie Chan movie that should be a must watch, especially for those that like incredible stunt work.
Pray for Death - Nothing screams 80s more than a Ninja movie and no one did it better than Sho Kosugi

I think you're right about Back to the Future. I can't remember it ever being sold individually since it hit DVD. Then again, I'm older than you so my memory isn't the most reliable, lol. The Breakfast Club >>>> Weird Science. Great video!

I was gonna riot if Back To The Future wasn't mentioned. Other 1985 movies in my own Blu-ray collection include The Last Dragon, Day of the Dead, Lifeforce and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
