Good to see you Paul, hope you are well! That little Simca is cute as heck, but I was suprized by how much I liked the Aronde and I was stunned by how beautiful the Simca 8 Sport is and the 1200S is a good looker too! You fellows were lucky to have seen these running around in their time! I have never seen any of them before and I'm surprized considering how truly top notch I think just these few designs are!

What a great quote! "It's a strange small world" It is indeed, I have heard similar things of course, but never quite like that! I like it.

I do like that Simca at 1:20, takes me back to the 1970's I remember seeing plenty of them around back in those days. The one you show looks really nice. I would buy that. :-)

Thank you my friend, I will have as good a day as I was meant to! I hope your weekend went well! The designs of many modern cars do leave a lot to be desired, and that little Simca was cute as a button, but my heavens the 8 Sport and the 1200S are just incredibly well designed cars, the 8 being particularly beautiful to me! Hmmm the VW was the one car you could always tell without looking here in the States... Tappet noises you say? Had to be some negative to go with those lovely designs!

I have to say that having never seen a Simca prior to this vid, I really am stunned at their designs, seems a shame they never made it stateside.

Just realized that the car I had seen as a boy that I was so impressed with was a late 60's Peugeot 504... not a 405, I transposed the numbers! That rear engined Simca is CUTE! But that Aronde is a good looking car, and that Simca Sport is just BEAUTIFUL. I thought the 1200S was a sweet machine as well! I had never seen a Simca before; wow what good looking cars, how were they for reliability and cost for parts? In any case Simca had some really great designers at their disposal, wow again!

You must have seen Colombo on TV, with that old 403 convertible ? The French are famous for their carstyling, so not only the Italians, but if you look on Wikipedia for Simca, you'll see there's a very early influence Chrysler.

Hello Brian, yeah Im ok thanks, still doing same old thing. Funny how back in the day, those little Simca's wouldn't have raised an eyebrow. Fast forward many years, and with modern cars all looking and sounding the same, suddenly the little Simca "Plain Jane" as she was, now looks really attractive. Its the BOX shaped styling and quirky look that does it for me. I love modern efficiency, but cars seem so bland nowadays. Have a nice day Brian. :-)

My lasting memory of a Simca van, for instance, or car for that matter was the very loud "tappety" sound they all seemed to make, so if you were walking up the street, playing the game identify a car without seeing it, and by sound alone, the humble Simca was really easy to identify..lol
They all sounded like a bad case of too much Tappet clearance, but it wasn't I don't think, thats just how they sounded.

I do remember Colombo's car, but the way it was portrayed they made it out to be a piece of junk and left it with such dull faded paint I never really paid much attention to it. It was an iconic car though! I have seen lots of French designs that I thought were great like the 2CV among others Citroen was always a favorite, But the Simca designs are just over the top fantastic, and to never have seem them before is mind boggling to me.

Also the ones in rallytrim, with the rearhood a bit opened like a Fiat 6oo Abarth and the black paint on top...

WOW, you are quite right, I am stunned that Chrysler was in control of Simca when the 1200S was designed, and of course Chrysler would not dream of introducing a Simca to the US and have it detract from their OWN sales! Then it all colapsed in the wake of Chrysler going bankrupt in the late 70's I had no idea! And to think that Chrysler wrested control of Simca from Fiat way back when and now Fiat controls Chrysler! They got their revenge! LOL Mind boggling!

Just wait till you read the story of the, ,mariage'' between Simca and Chrysler...
