Is it possible to make a successful mobile game as a solo indie game developer? That's the question I'm talking about in this weeks devlog. I'm working on a project with the intention to publish a game on the app stores and documenting all progress that's been made in this devlog series. I'm also covering how to integrate ads in mobile gaming without making the user experience less fun.

An interesting ad strategy would be an "Watch to keep" system, ie. skins could have a cost expressed in a number of ads watched, low level skins could be unlocked with a single ad view, other skins more. BUT lets say you have a skin that costs 10 ads, you watch one ad then you can play with that skin immediately for a day (or a few hours, or a single run, etc.), after the cooldown expires it becomes unavailable but now costs 9 ads, Once it reaches 0 ads the skin is fully unlocked and you won't need to watch any more ads for that skin.

Love the game. Definitely a game I’d play in the vanpool on the way to work. Maybe the monster could grab trees and throw them up out of frame and you have to dodge only from seeing their shadow as they fall.

Neat looking good - Jumps ? Jumps and tricks - Helicopter used to put you back when you have watched an add to keep playing - distance to end so the player know how long to go - screen has red boarder showing that the Yety is on it way - I think you need more thing happening in the background northern light?

Although, I don't play mobile games but this game's concept looks very fitting for a mobile game :) and the way you are adding avalanche, goats and then monster. I would say maybe you should keep something for later, like don't give away everything in first go. Maybe just launch the game with avalanche and goats and then later down the road send an update with new monsters to create the craze in fans again to comeback and play the game :) I wish you good luck ! looks decent game.

Maybe make the trees destructible. It seems a bit odd when the stones/avalanches go straight through a tree with it still whole. How about a stump? Or a rolling trunk afterwards that you dodge?

Also I think the monster could send ice spikes (istappar) or maybe make an ice path that is slippery and makes it hard to steer your character.

Love your content, been watching you from the beginning. But friendly little criticism tho, personally I don't really feel a point of collecting skins in this game, since the camera is so far away from the character that I can barely see the skin.

nice video the game is actually looking fun but maybe can you make it less harsh on eyes like night instead of morning and a little warmer color for snow or just like alto's adventure and maybe an outline for player or make the characters a little big?

Not to be a Debbie Downer but I think this game is toxic and souless.

That said, if you're going to make it anyway, I mostly echo the other criticisms here about the screen being too bright and the camera being too far from the player (maybe zoom in and out depending on what's happening in the level but that's a lot of work). Consider alternate maps as well for more unlocks. Also I think it'd be cool and satisfying to be able to do ski tricks somehow. Maybe there are occasionally ramps? I just think it would add a little more to gameplay without making it overly complex.

I hope you use your skills to make a more interesting game in the future instead of another ad-riddled cash grab. You seem smart. I think you could make something beautiful if you tried.

As a huge mobile gamer I think I'm gonna love this game. I played that ski game by featherweight studios and it was awesome. Although I don't mind ads as much as other people as long as it gives something then I'm all for it, I would like though for the ads to not only unlock skins and currency for skins but for the ads to give something that will actually affect the gameplay like powerups or something.

I mean I know it's a casual game and most rewards ads for skins I'm just saying that the rewards need to give something other than skins.

Also is the other game your working on on break?

Current mobile market is harsh - you need to invest tons of money in advertising. That makes millions of downloads. If LTV is greater than CPI - then you will get your lambo.
