Creepy DM Forces Their DMPC On ME | r/RPGHorrorstories

Romance in Dungeons & Dragons is something that needs to be approached with caution, because it's really easy to cross uncomfortable boundaries. What you don't do is create a DMPC with the express purpose of forcing a player into a relationship they never wanted. It's RPG Horror Story Time!

“Women that do this are just as gross as guys who fetishize lesbians.” Can’t believe that has to be considered a hot take.

Op: is straight

Dm: “and I took that personally”

Worst part for me was the aunt. Imagine working so hard on a good backstory only for the DM to absolutely butcher it

Turns out the DMPC was the true villain all along, he got so jealous he tried manipulations our hero, and in the end paid for it with his life as the 2 real heroes lived happily ever after together.

Ah, my favorite kind of problem DMPC story:
The one where the players successfully revolt against the problem DMPC and the DM can't BS their way out of it.

It's ironic how the DM does everything she can to force a lifestyle that someone isn't into while calling them homophobic. I mean, she tries every angle no matter the circumstance to show how hetero relationships seem to disgust her to the point of paranoia, even when a woman is RELATED to the character!

Fujoshis man. you can't have two decent looking guys say hi to each other in fiction without one crawling out from under a rock to argue about how they should be railing each other raw in the ass. That DnD session went more or less exactly as I expected it would go if you'd let one actually design a fictional universe.

I had a person in my party roll a one on a spell and the dm made them infatuated to a pebble. He carried the pebble thru the entire campaign brought a real pebble in to roleplay talking to it and treating it like the love of his life 🤣

Of course Rogue had to kill OP's Aunt, if she'd lived she might have revealed that Rogue is actually a fell creature who has not only corrupted her to do its biddding but the other female villians as well. All in order to get into OP's pants.

Which would have been a nice twist that would be revealed pretty much by what the characters were doing.

Edit: spelling

“The flying dinosaur that breathes napalm” that is the best description of a dragon I’ve ever heard of!

As a gay adventurer myself, I've never appreciated when relationships were forced onto my character, regardless of which gender is trying to seduce him, because it's very uncomfortable and really derails the entire game and trust between players/DM.

It’s not every day we get to see a legbeard horror story. Props, Drake!

Hey y'all, artist here! Thank you so much to Drake featuring my art, really love the direction Happybara is going. I too am a big nerd for science-y stuff. :)

I plan to keep making more art in the future and may even drop my own horror story I've had someday. ;)

I see the word homophobe in the thumbnail, and immediately I know which story this is

Anyway, if the DM ever forced my character into a relationship AND took away player agency, I'd just leave the campaign and take my PC along with me to hopefully use in a better DM's game

I legitimately want to run a campaign where you’re introduced to a cringey DMPC in the beginning, who everyone heralds as this great majestic hero, only to learn that behind the scenes he’s a paranoid weirdo with a short fuse who the party has to expose and take down.

I swear to god, every time I see a story like this, in my head I keep hearing "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?!"

That awkward moment where a minmaxer is one of the good guys.

A rule for npc’s you add to the party. You don’t add them to the party, the party adds them to the party. The party should want the npc there otherwise the npc shouldn’t be there. I’ll also never understand what possess DM’s to allow npcs killing bosses, much less just reducing the party to viewers as the dmpc kills everything.

Is there a lady version of maidenless behavior? Because this is it. Plus, it's a nice change of pace that the min-maxer was a great player and the real hero funnily enough

I've gotten to the point in Games were I reject all romance in any and all of it's forms. Also you know you won the fight when the DM has to go outside the rules.
