I'm sure the pilots were doing everything they could to get you on stand and the doors open before 18:55- bad luck on the compensation front but at least Aer Lingus Regional were honest about the reason for the delay. The Aspire Lounge looked great- liked the Belfast sink being used as a wine cooler. Great report, I actually quite like the ATR aircraft, I fly them a lot with Loganair who have a modern cabin but it can be a bit noisy if you're near the engine. Thanks for uploading this one.

Decent airline but when I flew their atr to Ireland a bit of the metal on the wing wasn't properly screwed in

They don’t allocate 1h 10m for the flight. That’s the block time and includes taxiing on departure and arrival.

I’ve been onboard the real ATR 72-600, leg room was good for me. Food service was nice, interior was nice, and the plane was a great 30 minute flight!

The flight was 10 minutes early!!

Fun fact! Aer Lingus has 18 ATR 72-600’s on service (2024)

Unfortunately, my experience of Emerald/Aer Lingus to and from Belfast City airport is one of delays and cancellations. Like your experience, they just scrape in with minutes to spare thus avoiding a claim.

Aer Lingus Regional (Emerald Airlines) first officer here, I'm actually based out of Belfast City Airport.

The captains always try and make on time departures possible, as do the entire crew. Sadly, it's not always possible.

Many reasons can cause us delays on the ground. But we do everything in our power to get you to your destination safely and on time.

Given the nature of are route network, which focuses mainly on incredibly short haul legs. It can be difficult to keep to time. I will give you an example of my day so you might understand.

My day normally consists of 4 legs. Last week, for instance, I worked the same rosta. Belfast to Jersey, Jersey to Manchester, Manchester to Edinburgh, Edinburgh to Belfast. It only takes any form of issue on the ground at any of those airports, and it creates delays further down the chain. Delays happen and I am sorry if you were disappointed. Just thought I would say we work incredibly hard to keep you happy and safe and I hope I might fly one of your future flight wirh us.

Might you want to give the claim a go anyway? I'm not sure how easy Aer Lingus make it, but if its not too hard (ie more like BA than Iberia, if you've seen Matt's Planet's video on the subject) it might be worth a try for £460.

I think the small planes are cool there like flying buses

I found aer Lingus ok to be honest, found a cheap business class flight for 600 quid to Chicago and the flight was good, I flew economy to Dublin and they let me in the lounge. Ba Silver

I had two flights from Dublin to Edinburgh and return. Everything was good for me but the cabin crew whose English pronunciation was really terrible! We didn't understand anything she said plus she was speaking soo fast. In the event of an emergency, a clear communication is a key and I am really surprised that Aer Lingus let that lady to be part of the cabin crew.
