Nanlux has released longer head cables. 10m and 15m versions will be available: CB-EV1200-15M and CB-EV1200-15M

Great review! Thank you, as always. Fun to think our renewed love affair with the fresnel may turn into a renewed appreciation for optimized reflectors🙃

Can't wait to see how the 1200d stacks up with the decision to keep Bowens mount.

I have two Evokes and fresnels - the reflectors are the way to go - it’s quick to deploy and powerful - there is a 12 degree coming and I have a 10m and 15m head lead in order - I control with exalux and weather sealing is good - used parabolic 150 first time today - quite a battle to put up and down - but nice light - 60 degree through 8 ft frame is lovely

Thanks Andrew another great review

Best of the best reviews. Really looking forward to the 1200D comparison.

Another thorough review. Thank you again for being on top of the latest light offerings. This one is not on my radar (yet), but it's good to have more options for future expansion.

Thank you Andrew for your thorough review! You're my favourite channel:)
Here in israel, the evoke 1200 is a a gem at rental houses because they cost production about half of what youd get for a 600d
But...
I think the fresnel attachment - as great as it is, is not safe and i wouldn't give an inexperienced lighting technician preform a simple tilt down. May cause equipment or persons damage, and obviously looking like fools.

Also, using it indoors as keylight for corporate stuff, sound guys usually complain although you can get away close up with 10%
Its a great light but APUTURE'S 1200D will probably be better

Have had two now for a few weeks and I rate them worth the money, fantastic at night.

Thanks for such a detailed review of this! I recently got one an am loving it! First light that is IP54 rated and it's come in so handy with the rain recently for some lightning effects for a commercial.

Thanks for a great review, I really appreciate all the time and care you put into these videos. Your videos help me immensely in these kit decisions!

Thanks for another great product review. One thing that kinda comes to mind here when I look at this big beast (and I know this does not apply to many of those in the audience) is that I often find it much easier and economical to simply take light away. I might be getting lazy in my old age, but I find myself reaching for small lighting packages more often these days and finding ways to decrease the ambient light wherever I am shooting, or harnessing it with bounces and neg. That being said, I am normally either by myself or with small 2 or 3 person crews. Appreciate all the hard work on this video. Very helpful to see what's out there. I wonder if perhaps in the future you would mind getting away from the products and taking us through a little tour of some of your skills on location with simple setups. I would find that quite valuable!

Great review as always, thanks. Been waiting for this one! Will be v interesting to see how the Aputure 1200D stacks up. I saw it demonstrated at Cinegear and the rep at Aputure mentioned they had no plans for a Fresnel for the 1200D because it would prob get too hot. That seems to borne out with your preference for the Evoke without the need for a Fresnel. Either way, they both will be, and are, great lights.

Funnily enough it’s the relatively cheap but well optimized reflectors that give this light its advantage. A shame it’s not a true 1200watt light but the reflectors help soften the blow!

Thanks for this video!! Please compare/ contrast this to the Aputure 1200D.

Thanks again!

Its actually really strange for me because i never have the Aputure dishes with me when i'm out filming (only the Soft-box of choice and the Fresnel attachment). To see the Fresnel attachment not really add much more to the light (both in size and price) is really odd. Again, for me I'm more in the Aputure eco-system so it'll be interesting to see what they come up with, with their 1200W unit in the next few months. Again Andrew, thanks for the review 👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you for this one! Been considering the evoke for awhile but I'm waiting to see how the 1200d stacks up. Hoping to get one of them as an M18 replacement, the only thing I worry about on the 1200D was the decision to keep the Bowens mount. Looking forward to your review on that one!

Finally they made LED so powerful, so big and heavy that I don't need it in my shootings. :) It's really big and heavy. For me personally size of Aputure 600D is maximum that I need as one-man-videomaker. Anyway this is interesting. And interesting is it possible (theoretically) to make so powerful LEDs smaller.

As always like your reviews, especially the part why you take on or going to have a hard thinking about the products after they pass your testing. On the other hand, it is laughable to watch some other YouTuber's reviews for similar products, with no single test, no single negative, but full of lights...", and the manufactory didn't ask him to say anything like this
