Eric is definitely one of the best I wasn’t getting my weight through the ball I could only hit my 7 iron 145 now I’m hitting my 8 iron 155 . Love the videos they’ve helped a ton and easy to understand

as a single figure handicapper, I was intrigued into the ribcage motion.. been battling over the top for years.. when you break it down you can feel the ribcage sway but one tip at 13min in one sentence allowed me to feel this perfectly, "throwing a frisbee".. If you try throwing a frisbee with the left hand you get that ribcage sway at speed. Absolute lightbulb moment @ericcogornogolf

Wow- How golf instruction has evolved. This was never taught years ago until now- essentially rib cage sway explains how to get lead shoulder down to start the down swing- something I have struggled with greatly. Video is of immense help explaining how to execute the rib cage sway.

Eric, so how do you do this AND staying centered over the golf ball? This video shows the head moving ahead of the ball

This solution to early side bend is genius!! Great video. Thanks for posting!!

You learn this move as an Ice Hockey Player in order to keep your slapshot from rising up to high. As you get stronger by about age 14, your slapshot starts to rise dramatically - but since you want your own teammates to stand in front of the goalie & block his vision, you have to send the slapshot in low or you'll hit your own players in the head. We thus learn to move our ribcage in front of the puck with a very forward handle delivery.

Eric, it’s amazing how complicated it is to hit a little white ball with a stick. Physics at its best! Just when you think you got it all down, pow, there’s a new twist to the equation. Really makes you appreciate the people that truly can hit the ball in any direction with convictions. Thanks my friend.

guilty of the wrong side bend. this one has resonated with me. I have sat on a chair and practiced this movement for the past 2 weeks, feel a crunch on the right love handle and rib cage moving towards the left knee..a movement i have never felt before..I've drilled it so i don't have think about it. It bloody well works!!! another piece of the puzzle for curing my over top swing path. your just not getting these lttle details on any other channel..thanks Eric and JT

This appears to be what other internet golf instruction sites call the "recentering move". A wonderful instructional piece that really explains what the golfer needs to do to get a more powerful, solid swing, especially for irons and other clubs that require a descending blow to achieve sucess. The only critique I can add is a little more explanation of the role the legs and pelvis play, if any, in the downward forward move of the sternum and chest to be ahead of the belt buckle into the downswing and the impact area. Is it a completely independent move or does it originate elsewhere in the lower body?

Love JT Thomas. Attended his two day golf school in Orlando and learned a ton.

Thanks for this. Seems to be really helping! Assuming this is just for irons?

I have sensed this while hitting balls on the range and recognized that the upper body moves forward before rotating but have not seen an explanation of the rib cage getting in front of or ahead the pelvis, excellent video.

Great video - I like to concentrate on keeping my weight down the front leg head fixed while applying side bend and rotation - it’s probably a similar thing - just alternative ‘feel’ to avoid falling off it

I think it's great for the player being fast at the top and not getting weight on the front foot drill. Mind vs reality and feel. Another good training video. Cheers mate

@cogornogolf you and JT just did a video on Performance Golf Zone where JT was talking about a side bend drill where you put a club across your chest, swing to the top and on the way down rotate back to the ball and then side bend. I’m just wondering where this rib cage sway portion plays into that video. Love your content!

Excited to have seen this video!!! Thank you so much! I am glad I am subscribed to your channel. This new magic move makes so much sense and was the magic ingredient I needed to finally understand the golf swing. I now know that I will be able to swing my own powerful and consistent golf swing on the golf course.

Hmmm...love you guys and love this move 🥁🥁🥁 buttt I really think and "feel" this is part of the *backswing* and not the downswing. Assuming you properly load up like Hogan with front cheek pointing towards target (belt buckle towards trail foot as he instructed). In other words it naturally happens as your lead leg starts posting right before the top. And yes continues thru the transition down, but I wanted to make this distinction because if you actually wait to do on downswing your head will move in a very undesirable postion towards or even ahead of ball. Again though, to be clear for others this move assumes you've got a proper Hogan backswing with loaded front cheek towards target. I would recommend just doing and feeling that and it will naturally lead to the most fluid transition that sends the ribs forward.

Hey guys, this video is very helpful and is one of the last key moves that will help me fix my down swing path. Thank you! could you elaborate more on the ‘keeping shoulders closed & relative’ that JT mentions @7:45 ? could you demonstrate open vs closed shoulder as it pertains to this or point to which of your shoulder videos explains this?

Fantastic video. Rib cage sway is so much more efficient than moving your pelvis left. When you look at skeletonal structure your rib cage and pelvis are only root causes to move you left and into the slot. By focusing on rib cage sway you have isolated the key anatomical movement that gets your torso left and then arms can be a reaction to get into the slot. It’s how you actually use your core to swing

Amazing video needed this!!..;been casting pulling everything to get inside but still flipping and early release. This move. So simple but it's what I was missing..just need to square face with wrist turn now..then think I have it ..cheers guys
