This album was the soundtrack to my awkward life back in the mid eighties, i saw them play live a dozen or so times, i loved them, havent listened to this album for years but apparently i still love them. I feel like the old man that says "if i only knew then what i now know..."

One of the best albums ever recorded. A classic. Desert isle disc. Listen to the drumming, guitar and violin on History of Utah. Very underrated in how CVB reconstructed the 3 minute pop song over an arch of 5 albums.

I met David Lowery by his van in the parking lot of a Va Beach club 30 years ago. He gave me firecrackers. I still have them.

I'll never understand how all the crackling you get from vinyl is somehow a better listening experience.

Having this album around was critical in the early nineties. . .I would terrify people by playing The Residents and then switch to this album to kind of relax things. . .CVB could be really experimental too. . Don’t get me wrong. .. they could do dissonant and eerie as well. . .whatever they did, they did it right

I saw them in Tuscaloosa in 1985. It was Halloween and they were all dressed in diapers and they were on acid, according to D Lowery. Saw them many many times over the next few years. I feel sorry for anyone who didn't get to see them live. Just incredible

What a fun bunch of misfits they were back in the beginning. I had them in the studio live for interviews numerous times on KFJC 89.7 FM in the early days. Rowdy as fuck and fun as hell.

Heard of these guys in 96/97 when I heard Sublime do a cover of The Day Lassie Went To The Moon, but never really listened to the rest of their music. Glad I found this, and sorry I waited so long to listen to it, great stuff here!

Thank so much for posting this album. What a gem. Had a CD copy I could never burn and no idea where it is now. A bona fide classic.
