Hi Mike, great video. The annoying thing about audacity is that if you have music which is in m4a format, you have to convert it to wav file.

How do I split the elements of a song? I’m trying to do a personal “remix” of a song, but I don’t know how to split vocals from instruments. Can you help please?

Mike, new to Audacity and looking to edit and split one Audacity file into multiple smaller files (i.e., one file with 5 Q&A segments that I'd like to have in 5 separate files). Do you have a video already with this type of instruction? Thank you!

Hey Mike! Thanks for all you do in teaching about how to make audio better :D I was wondering though - do you ever take questions/audio samples from people to answer in your videos?

I ask because I have a recurring problem in my audio editing that I'm not sure how to explain without giving a sample (which makes it hard to research a fix for it)

I do not have the time shift tool. My platform looks quite different than yours. Gotta love the constant change of tech.

Hi friend. I need to separate almost one voice from a Guitar Trio. How can I do that? It is a mp3 audio with 3 guitars. I've been trying to do this about 1 year ago but I can't. It's difficult...Please, help me!!! Thanks

Here is something I'm currently struggling with and I've been trying to find a video that explains it. This one doesn't address it either.

Say I have seven tracks: mic, guitar 1, guitar 2, bass, drums, etc loaded up into audacity. They all came off a multitrack recorder that captured the events of a band rehearsal. We spent 2.5 hours going through different songs, often multiple times.

I can identify that, say, "Row row row your boat, take 17" starts and begins at a certain place in the timeline. I can click on one track and hit Ctrl-I to cause a split point, but it splits just that one track. I could manually do it for each track but (a) it is more work and (b) there is 100% chance I don't put the cut point at exactly the same place in each track.

So, getting to the question: if I have N tracks, how do I export a certain start/stop section of all the tracks to their own files? Thanks

Thank you but how do you split up components of a song so you get just the song and not all the people chatting, cars rumbling etc., in the background, lol. Is that possible?

Hi I have an old Audio. Where me and someone else is speaking. When I open it in audacity it opens as one track. If I want to separate what I said and what other person said, as 2 separate tracks, how to do it in audacity?
