I had no idea people _didn't_ use the stems. I couldn't imagine throwing them out, they're my favourite part of broccoli

When I was struggling financially, the place I worked threw out the broccoli stems because only the flower part was used in the salad bar. I asked if I could take them home with me. They didn't care. I was so thankful. Those stems were my vegetable for that time when I had little money to buy food.

My culinary teacher had us actually use the stems in our broccoli cheddar soup we made in class so that way the whole broccoli would go to use! She had us cut it into small bite size pieces

Watching the lady just throw the stems back into the pile made me so sad!!! I LOVE the stems for soups and for stir fry dishes. I tend to use the tops for casseroles or dishes that call for a creamy sauce.

salad kits always have julienned broccoli stems in them, they are great! and i’ve seen broccoli slaw too. but anything breaded and baked or fried until crispy, you cannot go wrong! i love your recipes. 😊

My dog LOVES broccoli! I like the stems too, but I usually cut up the stems and keep them in a bag in the fridge for healthy dog snacks . We call them broccoli bones💕❤️
