First start of the 2019 season in the 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air

Cranked up the Bel Air for the first time since last October. The old 348 cranked right up, and ran perfect on it's first ride of the 2019 cruising season.

I may wait another few weeks to bring it home from dad's. I am up there a lot, so I can take it out to do my running around up there, if it's a nice day.

Won't be long until were in full cruising season. Keep an eye out for car story videos. My friend Dave bought a couple nice rides over the winter. I will try to get out to his place in the next month or so to do a video on them. One is a 1976 Oldsmobile Nighty Eight Regency station wagon, wood grain and all, the other is a 1965 "I think", Chevy half ton pick up, with a factory V-8 and automatic... very rare for that era. Most were inline sixes with a three on the tree.

I have been keeping my eye open for another project car, even made offers on a couple, but the owners thought there cars were 1000 point turn key show cars, and wanted way to much money for them, when they needed a TON of work and money dumped into them. Only one ran and drove, the rest didn't run, and one was missing it's drivetrain.

Also I have been ridding my XL175 to friends and stuff. I stick to the local neighborhood roads when ridding it. With all the crazy drivers and there lack of attention driving, I stay off the main roads, and still ride the bike like I am invisible. I didn't think I would ride it at all, but I have put almost a hundred miles on it... and it's still early spring, and cool out.

👍So nice👍I find it phenomenal that you’ve had it 41 years. I guess, respectfully, it’s almost like a love affair such as the movie “Christine” (Plymouth)
Very impressive in itself! I think it’s awesome to have it that long & keeping it near perfect. ✊
Thx for posting ‘H’ ✌️
(I like the dice 😀)

I enjoyed this video as others that you've made very much.  I especially enjoyed a 2016 video that your Dad had come along and talked some about Romeo MI and years past.  Some more on clutch use, I recall that since 1st gear wasn't synchronized people would down shift to 2nd and then walk through stop signs.  I still do this today with my modern automatic car to save wear on it.

Hey Howard I had my '59 Belair out for the first time a couple weeks ago. I heard you listening to the Mamas and Papas. My favorite to listen to when I'm driving around in mine. I have a cassette player with my radio. I had my clock converted to quartz. Keeps great time now. Hopefully one day we'll meet and we can get some pictures of our beauties together! Take care.

The '59 looks really nice. We just got my truck running right today so I'm also looking forward to cruise season. I think it's amazing you've kept it all these years, like many others I wish I still had my high school car. I'll say some extra prayers for your dad. ~Pat

Nice Video ! I never knew the 1959 Chevrolet dash board was so "space age" and "airplane" looking. I hope your Dad feels better this Spring. I like the Dice. That is very 50's. Those wise Canadian's importing 50 and 60 music hits over the air waves from Windsor ! Cheers ! 🚗🚗🚗❤

Hi Howard:

Now I know it is Spring since you took the ‘59 out for the first time this season. Told the wife yesterday I would love to drive a ‘59 or ‘60 Bel Air with a three on the tree - great classic cars! Your ‘59 is beautiful - love it!

Hope you dad gets well soon!

I remember watching 2017’s ride I can’t believe it’s two years since I’ve seen it. :))))

Nice sharp and clear images. I had my Chevy II out for the first short drive of the year today. Next is the 52 Merc. It will be 60 years this fall since my dad bought it.

Love those old chrome doglegs by the vent windows, only problem is at 6ft 5 I'm always wacking my knee's on it lol

I just took my '63 Studebaker Avanti for a spin on Sunday. First time out since early December. It started up like a charm and  took it out to stretch its legs.

I just found you here. Where about are you. Last place I lived in Michigan was Lake Orion. I'm figuring that you're there with the Canada mention.
