Evolution has no place in the workshop of a luthier. Evolution is "without intelligence." It takes an intelligent mind to design an instrument that works well. Evolution is blind chance. Blind chance, that we sacrifice hard won money & exchange it for a guitar - to be told, if it works for you, you're a lucky guy. If it sounds great, plays well, is intonated correctly, it was all a matter of chance. Yes, with massed produced instruments, you will get some ok ones and some perhaps far from ok. Or they look, sound great, but quickly suffer failure. I believe a luthier will make choices that do not turn out well, but that is his university. That's part of his knowledge.
