Ο Αστέριος, ο Γιάννης, ο Αργύρης και ο Σπύρος αποτελούν μια παρέα μουσικών, με ανάγκη για φρέσκιες ιδέες και παιξίματα μέσα από την κοινή τους αγάπη...την Ελληνική παραδοσιακή μουσική!
Οι καταβολές και τα βιώματα τους από τη Βόρεια Ελλάδα, τη Χαλκιδική, τον Έβρο και τα Γρεβενά, ήταν το εφαλτήριο να σμίξουν και να παντρέψουν ιδιαίτερα χαρακτηριστικά των πατρίδων τους, μέσα από τα μουσικά τους όργανα και το τραγούδι. Έτσι, δημιούργησαν μια “Κομπανία” - όπως αποκαλείται μια τυπική ομάδα μουσικών της Ηπειρωτικής Ελλάδας που αποτελείται από τέσσερα βασικά παραδοσιακά μουσικά όργανα: Το κλαρίνο, το βιολί, το λαγούτο και το ντέφι. Μελετώντας το παρελθόν, αλλά κοιτάζοντας προς το μέλλον, στο ρεπερτόριο, στον τρόπο αλλά και στις ενορχηστρωτικές ιδέες των τεσσάρων μουσικών, αναβιώνει και μετασχηματίζεται - με σεβασμό - το μουσικό άκουσμα όλης της διαχρονικής μουσικής παράδοσης των Ελλήνων, ή αλλιώς “Ρωμέικης" παράδοσης. Έτσι βαφτίστηκε και το σχήμα:

Asterios, Giannis, Argyris and Spyros form a group of musicians, founded originally with a need for new musical ideas and performance through their common love ... Greek traditional folk music!
Their musical origins and life experience comes from Northern Greece, and particularly the areas of Chalkidikí (central Macedonia), Èvros (Thrace) and Grevená (Western Macedonia), becoming the springboard to merge and combine special musical features of their traditional homelands, through each of their musical instruments and songs. This lead to the creation of a “Kompanía” - as it is called, a typical folk group of musicians of the Greek mainland that consists of four basic musical instruments: the clarinet, the violin, the lute and the tambourine. By learning from the past, and gazing at the future, the band utilizes the repertoire, the performance ways and the orchestration ideas of the four musicians, to revive and transform the musical soundscape of the timeless musical tradition of the Hellenic (Romioi) people, else called "Romèiko" tradition. Thus, comes the name of the band:
