Libby,
Nice job getting Ryan to admit that the movie "Battleship" exists.

Nearly died of laughter when Ryan dropped that 'documantary Under Siege' line

Did you forget the most famous video of all filmed on Missouri?
Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time."

While on an extended deployment to the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean in the mid-sixties, one of the movies the ship I was on was “Mutiny on the Bounty.” Great selection…..

Trading movies ship to ship brought back memories of living alongside the Alaska highway way back in the day before satellite television was a thing. Our isolated road camps each had one tv and a suitcase size VHS player, a case of VHS tapes was rotated in weekly by bus and then would move on to the next camp. We also used to get caravans of WW2 veteran groups coming through in the summertime who would drop in to check out their former lodgings. Good times.

3:20 (BANG! BANG! BANG!) "Yes, yes, who is it?" "It is I, Captain! Ensign Pulver. And I just threw your stinkin' palm tree overboard. Now what's all this crud about no movies tonight?"

Kindergarten Cop was filmed in Astoria, Oregon, and the name of the bridge is the Astola-Mergler Bridge.

“Master and Commander” is my favorite naval movie.

A favourite of mine is "The battle of the river plate" where Achillies and Cumberland played themselves. Cumberland was by that time quite different to how she was in the actual events of the film, but I do like that she was used. I don't think Achillies was substantially different, but was in Indian naval service by the time the film was made.
Of course USS Salem played the Graf Spee, for all you USN fans.

My favorite naval movie is "Master and Commander". From WW II era: "Das Boot" and "Cruel Sea". Two very realistic films about the Battle of the Atlantic from opposite perspectives.

Always love it when Ryan refers to Under Siege as a documentary.

6:03 Ahh, but the strawberries! That's - that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes, but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with - geometric logic - that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist! And I'd have PRODUCED that key if they hadn't've pulled the Caine out of action! I, I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officers

I liked The Final Countdown enough as a kid. When I saw it on DVD, I had to buy it. Under Seige, Hunt For Red October, Crimson Tide, and Hunter Killer are also great, even Down Periscope. Top Gun 1 and 2 gets an honorable mention. Other good Navy movies Navy Seals, Midway, and the TV show JAG and OG NCIS (even though they get a lot wrong, but one of my Seasparrow Launchers shows in an episode of JAG).

Honorable mention to The Philadelphia Experiment (1984). It is not a good movie, but it was filmed on the USS Laffey (DD-724) standing in for the USS Eldridge (DE-173).

"Hunt for Red October, " "Midway, " and the new film "Greyhound" )about a Fletcher-class destroyer in convoy escort vs a Wolfpack) is pretty good.

Any movie with US Navy involvement is pretty cool. Top Gun, Under Siege and Crimson Tide all come to mind. Watching movies underway, especially on WestPac cruises was good for boat morale. I have vivid memories of watching The Thing on my boat in crews mess back in the 80's. I seem to recall that one must be fully qualified to watch a flick.
