This tragedy was caused by the least talked about human frailty = laziness. Not one single step of the several mentioned was put in motion that no doubt would have totally prevented the attack from ever happening. So now you have one dead kid, a dead bear, and two injured scout masters. Nice job you guys.

I saw a video where sone researchers set camp in polar bear country. The had a high voltage electric fence barrier to protect their camp. The bear showed up and methodically tried the fence numerous times despite being shocked. I remember thinking, “That still seems unsafe.” This was crazy.

I’m so sorry about this boys death as his father is a consultant at my hospital and Horacio had such a promising future but, looking at that silly, flimsy camp I’m appalled at the lack of safety measures . This is the land of one of the most dangerous animals on earth. They may as well have been sleeping in paper bags. The organisers have blood on their hands.

Ever heard of a dog? Yeah they alert you. They've been around for thousands of years. They should've taken an experienced hunting guide with them. Besides survival experience their guns always work.

My heart goes out to the bereaved family and their son who lost his life and his future to be a doctor. The school was negligent big time
