US government has received more than 350 new UFO reports

Since March 2021, the US government has received more than 350 new reports of "unidentified aerial phenomenon," or UFOs, roughly half of which have not yet been fully explained, according to a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released on Thursday.

The Pentagon office in charge of monitoring and analyzing the sightings, according to the report, has tentatively classified 163 of the reports as "balloon or balloon-entities." The causes of a few additional reports have included drones, birds, weather variations, or airborne debris like plastic bags.

However, the report stated that "initial characterization does not mean positively resolved or unidentified." And the US government is still baffled by the remaining 171 reports of UAP or UFO sightings.

In some of these uncharacterized UAP, the report found, "unusual flight characteristics or performance capabilities appear to have demonstrated, and require further analysis."
