I am 61 years old and retired and live in Shah Alam, Malaysia. I have to go to the government clinic every few months for check-ups and to get medicines. At one point I accidentally missed an appointment. The next day I received a call from the clinic asking why I missed the appointment. I apologized and they set me up with a new date and promised not to miss it again. Wow... I am surprised at the level of efficiency of this Malaysian government clinic.❤

And another thing about Malaysia’s healthcare, if you are infected with any infectious diseases such as Tuberculosis, Dengue, Malaria, Leptospirosis, the cost of treatment is totally free. And for citizens you only need to pay RM 1 to get treatment in the Emergency Zone and Clinic and you pay RM 5 to get consultation with the specialists. The downside is that it put heavy burden to the healthcare personnel with people abusing the healthcare system (MC seeker, neglecting follow up and medications)

I am a Singaporean. I think Malaysia has an excellent healthcare system. Access to affordable healthcare is considered a human''s right. Even the private healthcare is affordable and excellent. Singaporeans appreciate it. A Malaysian friend's father went for a heart bypass for $600 Ringgit. In Singapore the same surgey in a public hospital can be from $10000 to $30000 Singapore dollar.

Dengue (denggi in Malay) is very common in Malaysia. And because it can be deadly, our KKM (Ministry of Health) takes dengue very seriously. You could be fined if your house or yard contain Aedes larvae.

When i gave birth to my eldest son, my doctor needed to vacuum the baby's head out..the total medical cost was rm98 only. That was in hospital serdang back in 2011. Alhamdulillah for this blessing.

Public health care in Malaysia is among the best in the world. The cost of a health checkup at a government clinic is only RM1. Medicines given sometimes exceed RM50. Therefore, the majority of its people never bother to take insurance.

Yes, thats the SOP for Malaysian Health Dept, drs/nurses have to report all cases of dengue. They will come to the site and check for mosquitos breeding areas. they will fumigate the whole area/building and its all FREE!
Even if there are cases of HFMD (hand foot mouth disease) at the baby nursery /kindergarden/school, Health Dept will come and issue notice for temporary closure to arrest the disease.

They ask because they want to find the source of water eg pots of plants, pools, stagnant water.

Normally in reported areas of dengue, the health ministry would send the fogging team.

And.whoever had dengue fever, even after 6 months you may tend to fall sick easily due to lower level of anti body. Do take care of our health

it is not only in Malaysia. any country has a watch list of diseases that the doctors are obligated to report if a case is found ..they mainly are infectious diseases that can spread easily. for dengue they will check if your place for mosquitoes.. it for the safety of people living around you

In America the patriots keep saying USA number 1 USA number 1. Love it or leave it. I love the USA, but Americans don't like people suggesting improvements. So I left and boy am I glad I did. Americans can learn something from the Malaysians.
