I've loved junkyards ever since I walked through one when I was 12 years old. Later on, no matter where I lived, I was always buying and selling cars and parts much to the displeasure of local zoning ordinance enforcers. Finally at my half century age, I have a state licensed, zoning approve good-old-boy 2 acre salvage yard. I won't get rich, but I enjoy my work. Ain't life grand!!!

Finally a video of a person working in the junkyard. I just see videos of people fucking around and not doing any work at all. There is a real man trying to do some work.

I would like to see a weekly show like this on History Channel with "behind the scenes" similar to Duck Dynasty.

Wow, I loved this junkyard, me and my dad combed many, but I remember this one well. That was 10 years ago, and ye, lots a puddles lol. Im working at one now too and this was the first video I saw and happen to recognize the interior. I remember my dad standing at that window to pay. We pulled the parts ourselves though, so I remember the yard too. Good memories.

It's cool to see how other yards run. We own one in Michigan.

Great story! This should have its own series on TV. There was a old school junkyard next to where I work. It was exactly like this one! Muddy pathways, tall weeds around the cars, greasy dirty guy that knew were EVERYTHING was. Just think how simple and seemingly happy that Shakey guy is. Has a nasty dirty job out in the elements all day, doing it all his life and seems like the happiest guy in town. Probably never gets mad at anybody. Just flat out guts the job done

I just worked at a junkyard for the first time today, boy will I tell you that shit is an entire different world. Walked through the office to the garage area, entire floor was muddy af with gas, not water. Engines stacked up on shelves, shit ton of tires in a corner.

Alot of people think junkyards and their workers are the pits.
Bottom of the barrel....nothing could be farther from the truth.
These places exist for a reason...parts for some vehicles cannot be bought new, aftermarket, or rebuilt.
This is the only source, and a good yardman keeps a mental inventory so he can go to what he needs, fast.
But the days of instant shredding are here, and the parts yards of old are disappearing fast, as the price per ton goes up.

This guy's skills and memory are amazing. Rusted bolts are the least of his worries.

5:00 needs to be introduced to a cordless angle grinder. You NEVER go back once you've used one.

How I love YouTube University. Been thinking about a Junkyard after watching this I'm not sure if it's for me not because I mind the hard work. I love and miss working hard cant do this in a chair tho and nobody wants to work these days smh. I think my main problem would be finding employees
