You really need to hear the live versions of the Talking Heads songs on the Stop Making Sense record. It's also a movie.

I don't think You ever get tired listing to this Band!!!! I'm 68 and my husband is 70 and we still listen to the Talking Heads! BTW we introduced our sons to them as well, They are now 41 and 35 and still listen as well! You should of been at our house on Thanksgiving😎

Saw Talking Heads on this tour, about a month before they filmed Stop Making Sense, and the show was almost the same. That's a big fat win in my book. In the movie, this is the song where David Byrne is wearing the over-sized white suit.

You gotta see this band live from their concert film, Stop Making Sense (1984).. any song off that is amazing... but ESPECIALLY this song

This whole album was just a total vibe. And they were savvy enough to do some "house" versions of this tune, "Making Flippy Floopy, "Slippery People" and one or two others. Because they all got play in the clubs. The Heads "street cred" probably peaked with this record.

The Morris Day, Prince and Ohio Players references are on point, IMO. There are for sure elements of all three in here.

Talking Heads, one of the most unique and innovative bands ever. So glad that David Byrne is still out there doing his show. He is a musical genius.

Great track. This is possibly their best album. I know others will say 'Remain in Light', but this a completion of their journey to me from the nerdy early work to the funk of Remain. It all comes together here. Bernie Worrell playing synths on this track.
You must see the live version from 'Stop Making Sense' which is a concert film that has gotten great praise.
Btw, I also enjoy your intro. And Morris Day and Time were awesome.

Heads are kind of the Steely Dan of the hard-to-classify rock/funk/pop/? genre. Leave the same album in and go to "Pull up the roots". Dave Byrne is some kind of genius.

Nice! Talking Heads dropped "Speaking in Tongues" when I was a sophomore in high school. "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" is another cut from that album that got a lot of radio play back then. A related bit of deliciously funky bass that you ought to check out a.s.a.p., is "Genius of Love" by Tom Tom Club, a side project Talking Heads bass player Tina Weymouth co-founded with husband and Talking Heads drummer, Chris Frantz.

The Stop Making Sense film of Talking Heads in concert is one of the best out there, but you have to watch American Utopia, David Byrne’s concert on HBO. You never see anything like it, it’s a true masterpiece of art, music and creativity. ❤️😁
