The Bárbara Martínez Group (Live Shows)

The Bárbara Martínez Group is a project that began in 2010, with a performance at Carnegie Hall/Weill to a sold out house. It ranges from duo to the full 6-piece band. It has grown to include South American, Middle Eastern and Sephardic music with jazz musicians, maintaining the essence of flamenco at its core. Because of Bárbara’s background in flamenco dance, movement is always a part of the visual experience, in addition to the percussive footwork that plays off of the song and the instrumentation. Musicians who have been a part of this group include virtuosos from all over the world, many of whom have been connected to Bárbara either through the flamenco community or through Berklee College of Music and New School/Mannes. Performances always include an acoustic guitarist, and from there on can include percussion or drums, piano/keyboard, electric or acoustic bass, and solo instruments.

The songs in these live performances are covers and my original arrangements of "Anabalina" (Las Grecas), Sevillanas Pink (Las Ketchup), "Gran Faena" (Marina Heredia), "O Leãozinho" (Caetano Veloso), "La Comida La Mañana" (popular Sephardic), "Carolina" (Seu Jorge), "La Noche" (Montse Cortés), "Siempre Te Vas" (Pablo Milanés) and "No Miento" (Diego Carrasco).
