This collaboration by Los Angeles Blues-Rock band Canned Heat and Chipmunks creator Ross Bagdasarian Sr. was released in November 1968 as the A-side of Liberty 56079 in time for the holiday shopping season. Though some pressings credit Canned Heat & The Chipmunks on both sides of the disc, the 30 i.p.s. rodents are not present on the reverse, "Christmas Blues".

My mom had a Chipmunks Christmas cd and this was a bonus track on it. The cd went missing years ago. This is the first time I’ve heard this track in 15 years!

This is just nuts. It really is the Chipmunks...and it really is Canned Heat.

The collaboration you wouldn't think existed until you hear it.

Ironic Canned Heat worked with the Chipmunks considering "On the Road Again" and "In the Country" (two Canned Heat songs) sounded like Kermit the Frog was on lead vocals

Alvin has such a huge ego, he doesn't think of himself as a lowly mouse. Bob could have mistaken them for Chip and Dale, and then the fur really would have been flying. A funny record.

I've loved Canned Heat forever but never knew about this. (Kudos to Andrew Hickey's great podcast History of Rock Music in 500 Songs for revealing it's existence and of course I found it on YouTube.) What is the B side?
