This is the most anticipated weapon in past several years if not decades and its impact will be huge, even more than Kalibr missiles deployed in Syria. S-400 also has staggering characteristics but S-500 seems to be head and shoulders above. Deployed together these two present impenetrable shield and certain end of any incoming threat. I can not stop admiring Russian engineers and their ingenuity. S-500, S-400, Borei & Yasen class subs, Armata main battle tank, PAK-FA aircraft, Iskander, Sarmat, Rubesh, Layner, Bulava, Kalibr, Brahmos missiles ... the list goes on and on. After all this is not so surprising knowing that first ICBM, hydrogen bomb, artificial satellite, man & woman in space, space walk, space station ... happened under the flag of former USSR and Russia as its most important republic. Keep strong Russia. You and China are future of this world.

S-400 - it's 400 kilometers in RADIUS, which makes it a 800 km in diameter.
If you're calculating the covered AREA (the whole area that the circle covers) then it's a completely different story.

A = area
π = pi = 3.14159


Area of a circle:
A = πr2 = πd2/4

A = 3, 14159 x 400(squared)

r = m (radius)
C = 2513270 m (circumference - the length of the circle)
A = m2 (area - the area in square meters covered by the circle)

800 KM diameter = 502655 km area

S300 and S400 are both able to detect F22 and F35 jets and destroy them as any other jet. This was stated by the project director of s400 system. tests were run against low visibolity stelth targets and system always detected them and destroyed them with ease.
