David & David explain why your iPhone screen brightness changes by itself and show you how to stop your iPhone from dimming. The first thing to check is Auto-Brightness, which automatically adjusts the brightness of your iPhone's display to help save battery life.

If you have an iPhone 8 or newer, it's possible that True Tone is on, which automatically adjusts your iPhone's display based on ambient lighting conditions.

Next, check to see if Night Shift is on, or gets automatically scheduled at night. Night Shift removes blue light, which makes your iPhone display warmer.

Finally, check to see if Low Power Mode is on. When Low Power Mode is on, your iPhone turns off a lot of features to preserve battery life. It's possible your iPhone's display brightness got turned down in an effort to save battery life.

1. Turn Off Auto-Brightness [0:04]
2. Wipe Off Your iPhone [0:31]
3. Turn Off True Tone [0:51]
4. Turn Off Night Shift [1:14]
5. Turn Off Low Power Mode [1:50]
6. Addressing Potential Hardware Problems [2:33]
7. Turn Off Dark Mode [3:09]

Dark mode helped me with eye pain from cataracts. My cataracts are much better w/o surgery, but I still use dark mode, cuz I’m cool!

Thank you☺️. I have been struggling with this one since owning my phone for 2 years now. It's a struggle when I'm out in the sun! My friends have the same phone or older but their screen 8s not dimmed, I felt my iPhone was a lemon. It is finally fixed. I'm even wearing k6 sunglass now and I can see my screen just fine. Thank you again!!!😊

The comment in the video about not needing screen protectors, I disagree with, even apples new screen glass still scratches way too easily and another reason is if you're a heavy user like I am, the oleophobic coating actually wears off and you end up with smudge marks appearing instantly in the areas of the screen you use most, so screen protectors are a good way to go, you can just take off an old one and slap on a new one and off you go, if you scratch the original screen or wear off the anti grease coating then you would have to send it to be serviced

Hey guys. In one of your past videos you both shrugged off Apple Maps. As an avid user of Waze and Apple Maps, I recently tried the latest version of Apple Maps and was most impressed. Try it again. It is the most "Human" of the genre.

What about when an iPhone 8 dims to 90% brightness at 74% battery then down to 75% brightness at 49% battery?
Auto brightness is off, will brighten back up manually then will gradually darken by itself, can’t be heat issue as this happens when not in use and in winter

Please explain why you don’t need a screen protector? I’m under the impression that it’s a must have.
Because if that’s the case, I’ll rip off my protector right now from my iPhone 7 plus and save myself a few $ as I have to replace it at least every 3 months to get rid of the scratches
