New COVID Vaccine and Variants Explained for 2024-25

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved and granted emergency use authorization for updated mRNA COVID-19 coronavirus vaccines such as Pfizer and Moderna. The new 2024-25 formula includes a monovalent (single) component that corresponds to the Omicron variant KP.2 strain of SARS-CoV-2.

Dean Blumberg, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at UC Davis Children's Hospital, answers common questions about the new COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine and variants, including what's different with this vaccine, who should get it and the side effects that can be expected.

You can get vaccinated at your nearest pharmacy. I took my grandchildren and my parents . We were all vaccinated at the same time and not one of us got sick after .

When I told an acquaintance that I got Covid shots he said people are dying of that. I said who? All my friends, family and acquaintances got Covid shots are still alive. But most of us got Covid and it was relatively mild. No hospital. One friend who didn’t get his covid shots ended up with Covid in the ICU. Another who didn’t get his shots went to the outpatient a half dozen times for Covid. Very sick.

I had COVID a couple years ago. Almost certainly due to Pfizer vaccination it was not much worse than a bad cold.
Meanwhile an anti-vax coworker my age, same profession, named Tom died of COVID a couple years ago.

I think it evolves due to current extreme and unpredicted migration streams over the world. Mutations will happen as long as humans move over the world in a faster pace. Stable populations and hoard immunity sounds like the natural solution, no?

How about telling us what the serious adverse events are and the number of serious adverse events. Could we have some honest information about the risks, informed consent for a change? What are the risks to children and young adults compared to their risk from the vaccine.
