I mean it wasn’t a surprise to be honest. Nintendo has been dominating every single E3 up to this point, which made Xbox and Sony realize how much of a steep competition they have, and after Nintendo’s immense success of just doing directs. It shouldn’t be a shocker that Sony, and Xbox copied that formula to replace E3

The pandemic killed it, the companies couldn’t show off stuff at E3 2020 because there was no E3 2020, they had to announce stuff a different way which showed that they didn’t have to share the spotlight with other companies

Even the Sonic franchise has it's own annual announcement streams with Sonic Central.

And it happens in JUNE!

This is amazing, E3 will now focus on indie games and other games that people would normally overlook.

If so I think E3 should be now dedicated to next gen announcements or when huge things like tech similar to vr gaming was unveiled

Personally I see this as a good thing, because with big companys stepping out we will see more small indie develepors and thats where we will all discover gams like I did Hollow Knight
