Manufactured by Boeing or Sub contractors? Didn't they check the standards of these parts before they were fitted? There are a lot more parts that are not made as originally specified by Boeing but Boeing still accepts these sub standard parts and overlooks the fact they are made by hand and not by Computer Controlled fabrication and machining tools.
I am afraid that this is just the first of many discoveries about components made with sub standard manufacturing methods by Sub Contractors who know that whatever they make Boeing will accept as they need to get the planes out on schedule. For the record I am on Boeing's side. We need Boeing but one run by a competent management. Running Boeing even at the best of times has got to be the toughest job in the world. They have my sympathy but not when bad decisions are made that concern safety and Boeing's reputation. This cant go on. Someone has got to stand up and admit the problem instead of being part of the problem.
