A BIOCLIMATIC AND ECOLOGICAL INTERVENTION IN THE COURTYARD OF THE 5th ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN AGIOS NIKOLAOS, CRETE

The pupils of the 5th Elementary School in Agios Nikolaos use as classrooms containers, which surround an empty, hard, bare and extremely hot courtyard in the summer, cool and flooded in the winter. The classrooms are hot even with air-conditioning. The proposal proposes a more human environment embracing pupils with nature and creating a small oasis with exploration possibilities, which will give stimuli for senses and brain, concentration in the learning process, as well as an active environmental education. Happiness and joy of life is the goal.
