My BMW dealer(in the US) just started using two new X3 as service loaners. I drove one last week when my X1 was in the service dept for the IBS braking recall. The X3 drove beautifully.... but to be perfectly honest, I did not care for the design of the rear. It looked like a minivan.(probably not an issue for those in the UK or Europe because minivan is more of a problem here in the US) Also.... BMW chose to use cheaper looking plastics in the new X3, but then again, a BMW is judged by how well it drives, especially around the curves. :) (which the new X3 does very nicely)

Matt. Again this confirms, as You say, that BMW have " absolutely nailed it" with this new X3 5M.
Yes lots of cash for a " mid sized" SUV...And SUVs are not for everyone and a BMW 3 Series Touring would be the " driver's choice".. yet nothing any brand .... looking at Audi and Merc ..can hold a candle to this machine. You would not consider a RR Velar either. In terms of design and overall package a very worthwhile alternative to a Range Rover Sport! Certainly a better engine and driver focused. Yes again another outstanding BMW.

Have the previous LCI M40 and the interior on the new one is such a massive disappointment from both a quality of materials perspective and execution. Absolutely no where near as good or ‘premium’ feel of the outgoing model. So wanted to get the new one, but I’m off to the new SQ5 now (and that is not perfect).

The front end is just not it.! the rear is ok. The interior is SOO cheap it literally saddened me, because it made think "bmw”is gone.
