You can make a horror movie of Indian aunties! I'm not Indian but when I lived in India, I experienced them....and they were literally as you said "the good ones" 😂

Zarna speaking of her mother-in-law: 'She comes for three months at a time.' So did my mother-in-law, at our expense (which meant at my expense, financially & emotionally). Unfortunately I didn't speak her language - Arabic, & she spoke limited English - British English, which made it even more difficult. I didn't cook much, she cooked everything perfectly according to both her & her SON. Nothing I cooked suited my husband, (yet he gained over sixty pounds in the first three years of our forty year marriage). I tried to follow her recipes. But she NEVER ever measured anything. I always followed recipes to the very quarter teaspoon. So no matter how I tried my cooking never ever measured up (pun intended). They are both gone now. He sank into a three year depression when she died. By then he was a double amputee, I was the one & ONLY care giver. It was hard. But I believe marriage, even a hard one, is till death do we part. I fully believe he was trying to kill me. Guess what I survived.
I survived the forty years.
I survived being told I burned water.
I survived being alone: his fourteen trips 'home.'
I survived the majority of my life being criticized, put down. It hasn't been easy, but I'm a survivor.
