Neville Southall – Everton Football Club 1981–1998

Neville Southall has been described as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation.
He moved on to Everton for £150,000 in 1981 and established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper by the 1983–84 season.
He went on to make a club record 578 appearances in the Football League and Premier League (750 in all competitions);
In December 2004 he was voted as Everton's all-time cult hero and is named on the Gwladys Street's Hall of Fame.

The Greatest Goalkeeper of all time in my opinion. Doesn't get the recognition he deserves he won us games week in week out. Kevin Ratcliffe and Derek Mountfield both said if a striker got past us we didn't have to worry as big Nev was there. And to play at top level for over 17yrs is Astounding. GOAT

Southall is my hero. It's no doubt that he is my all time favourite amidst the great players in Everton's history. I used to play goalkeeper in my school time. So I know deeply how well big Nev played in the 80s.

Me fucking hero, I played in goal all me life because of this man. My MA worked in Dublin city center in the eighties as a cleaner and I made her bring all the waste envelopes home so I could peel the 1punt stamps off them and use them to send letters to everton for pictures and autographs of Neville, they wrote back every time.

A pure genius Everton were a team great at the time but Neville Southall was some goalkeeper a joy to watch all those saves we were unindebted for those performances nil satis nisi optimum 1878💙💙💙💙💙
