Boeing stops production of the Boeing 737MAX!

Boeing management will likely announce severe cuts and possibly even a complete stop of the Boeing 737MAX production line today. This after the FAA told them that they will NOT certify the MAX to fly before the end of 2019.
How will this affect Boeing and the rest of the Aviation Industry and why is it happening NOW?

This forms part of a new type of Industry analysis videos I am planning to start producing for the channel and the Mentour aviation app.

Great breakdown of the issues. Thank you! As a former Boeing employee and a fan of the company, this problem is heartbreaking. Time for a detailed look at the management team that allowed this fiasco.

correction to your statement, the rest of the world grounded the 737 MAX and the US followed

You know your english skills are incredible when the (inevitable) mistakes are so rare that they stand out. When you say a production line is "the most effective..." it means that production line is the closest to being able to actually produce something. I believe the word you're going for is efficient (produces more from the same amount of resources) or prolific (produces a lot, usually applied to authors or artistic creators). Also, when an event is pushed forward, that means it's happening sooner. Think of the event/date like a car that is gradually coming towards you.

Would say the cost of certifying the required changes is greater than the cost of designing the next plane in the 737 series, so just scrap it.

Should pull the plug on the entire thing and start from scratch. Call it the That's 737-WTWGIRTTBWNS for short.

When the 737 MAX is approved, who wants to be a passenger in it?

Why is it taking so long for the FAA to make these decisions ? It should be their number one priority.

seems to me the problem could have been addressed by one serious training program to teach all MAX pilot on how to deal with an MCAST malfunction, along with a definite kill-switch. the aircraft would continue to fly while dealing with the redesign in the background until a new failure-proof solution is made.

MCAS was implemented to avoid the need for airlines to provide new type rating training to pilots. Maybe Boeing should get rid of MCAS and offer free type rating training to airlines for the new 737 Max config. It's hard to imagine that MCAS will be trusted again.

Boeing should modify the existing design by heightening the landing gear, so as to position the larger engines properly without them getting too close to the ground. Or just as well, it's time for Boeing to restructure and draft an all-new narrow-body design (perhaps based on the design of the 787).

It's just as well that they're stopping production of this airplane. Regardless of what they do "software fixes, " etc., the problem won't go away. I would not be reassured until they redesigned the entire airframe - an expensive procedure. If you consider the recent debacle with United Airlines, the idea of flying a United flight using a Boeing 737 Max is going to cause a great deal of concern, no matter what those two organizations say or do. The damage has been done.

Boeing can probably transfer workers to other production lines (for other models.)

The 737 MAX really is an amazing aircraft. It’s just the one MCAS system issue. If they just fix it and start releasing it again it will be a massive jump in aviation history.

I wonder how long it will be when airbus will start opening up factories in the United States to make some of their planes here?

Watching this in 2022. I guess some airliners actually made nice profit: having reduced fleet in early 2020. AND free cancellation of orders AND getting cancellation penalty paid by Boeing really sounds like hitting jackpot in given circumstances...

Boeing are screwed. And other news saw Airbus get the London Sydney orders for the A350-1000.

I love the doggie! John P is absolute correct. Bean counters are devoid of intelligence. Can you talk about the software systems that are being used on planes.

I cant believe they just continued with manufacture, Boeing will go bump if they never get off the ground!

just received the Information that the crash of air France into the Ocean could have been avoided if they had filled more fuel into their plane. in this case they could avoid the thunderstorm by taking a slightly longer route. but no air France was way to greedy to do so.
