I learned a very valuable lesson on economics from my grandparents about 50 years ago, and its so simple.
I was once told to "never buy what you can't afford!" Instead, save up and only buy something only if you can comfortably afford to. Well, they were right, I've never had a credit card and I've also "never" been in debt - except of course for a mortgage - but we all have to have a roof over our heads right! (Don't max out on the mortgage either!!)
It really couldn't be any simpler than that.
