The Heart Repairman by Erkut Tokman

Erkut Tokman’s solo performance was realized during Malamut Festival -2024 which was held in Ostrava City last year. The performance for the first time is being published at Poetry Expo -2025,the artist initially was inspired by an original art work called “Kalp Tamircisi”(Heartrepairman) where Erkut Tokman bought it from the Antique Shop in İzmir as a part of his personal art collection. The art work was used partially during the performance align wıth the conceptual idea of the performance as it was structured and realized by Erkut Tokman. Heartrepairman is solo performance that explores the human soul’s emotions, its fragility through esoterism of sacred heart and its ancient role in human existence. For that reason Tokman used during the performance heart breaking and heart repairing words by juxtaposing them in a matrix form on the floor of the art gallery, as written in contradiction at the both sides of red cartoon that cut out of the heart shape,and invited the audiance to involve interactively in the performance in order to let them find and choose individually their own heart broken words where Tokman could able to repair their heartbroken words and give them back in return the participants throughout the performance as turning them into the heart repaired words in hammering over the metal heart of the art work, as if he was once an alchemist of human heart.
