Joan is a folk icon. She anointed/introduced Bob Dylan into this world. They definitely have history.

It's fair to say Joan had deep feelings for Dylan. This song said it all in perfect perspectives from her side of the relationship.... as it does with so many others. Thank again.

Her voice is beautiful and her guitar playing is haunting. I love this song…takes me back to my 20s…. I’m now 79.

I think Joan and Bob would be impressed with your understanding of her song about him.

Her voice is amazing. It definitely has a sort of airy quality like Joni Mitchell's.

The musical arrangements she has in this song is exceptional and brilliant, without any instrument making a lead parts other than her guitar playing. Joan was one of the early 60s Female singer/songwriters that inspired many others like Joni Mitchell and Carole King, Carly Simon. She has a High Level Of Respect In modern music history.

"You Were So Good With Words"... We all agree with her on that expression.

I had the biggest crush on her when I was a kid ! She was a big activist against the Vietnam War, Just like most of all the other artists from that time ! Especially when it came to civil rights ! She did a lot of work with Harry Belafonte when it came to civil rights ! Her, Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins were the top 3 female folk singers in my opinion !

Joan BI-Aezz. She is an icon that also performed at Dr. Martin Luther King’s White House speech.

This is a favorite song of mine capturing her romance with Bob Dylan.

It really is scary how our kids today are being manipulated and not getting true history.

Joan was already quite popular before Dylan came into the scene. She was considered the Mother Of Protest Folk Music at the time. Reference to "The Madonna Was Yours for Free". She introduced Bob. many say she got his career started and owed her a lot.

It's BYE-ez. Great folk singer and lyricist and these are some of her best words because they're so heartfelt. Absolute classic stuff. You sir are the best reactor out there because you analyze every aspect of the song, and are so adept at getting at the soul of the lyrics, it's pretty amazing. When you post a video, it's the highlight of my day.

Her father was Mexican and her mother was Scottish...check out her beautiful version of the Scottish song, "Wild Mountain Thyme"...there's a great live version recorded in Scotland early in her career...

From what I have read, she initially shared her stage with him. As he gained more popularity he then suddenly did his own thing without her and disappeared from her life without explanation. Beautiful song.

One of my favorite songs by the sweet songbird Joan. Sings like an angel. Her guitar playing is phenomenal. Thank you!

Joan Baez, in the early 60s, was often called "the Madonna" due to her the purity of her looks and the purity of her voice. She was already famous when Bob Dylan first appeared, and her support of him led others to take note of him, thus establishing him in the folk revival of the early 60s. She rarely wrote her own songs, and for a lot of people this song was a revelation both musically and lyrically. She was an activist during the Civil Rights movement, the anti-Vietnam war movement, and various other causes to help those who were helpless or oppressed. She's a genuine national treasure, and we sure could use more like her today. It's so good to see her being rediscovered. Thanks for the reaction.
