I live in Tullahoma TN, southeast Tennessee. Down Interstate 24 half way between Nashville and a Chattanooga. I was working in my garage earlier this week and killed two of these things. I would’ve left them alone but they liked the light I was working under. I’m positive it was this hornet!

Make sure we aren’t killing off the cicada killers. Very similar looking. This could turn out to be a nightmare.

Here in NC, I was outside with the dogs on the back porch, I went back inside after a few minutes and I thought I felt something crawling on my back so I went to brush it off with my hand, I immediately felt it again near my neck so again brushed at it again, just to see one of these huge hulking things fly down towards the floor and back up onto the window. I completely freaked out. It did not sting me or act aggressive toward me in anyway, but it was so big I had to take that thing out. Hopefully these things will only keep their aggression focused on the bees which is still not good, but I'd rather not have to go outside worrying about another flying thing trying to land on me lol
