What Makes Food Freedom So Hard

Have you ever wondered why it could be so hard to heal your relationship with food?  Something you want really bad and probably think about several times a week or maybe even several times a day (or like many of my clients, constantly during the day).
 
And you may even try to do so many things to get there but it seems like you just can't.  So you may tell yourself things like, “you must not really want this that bad” or that “there's something wrong with you” or “you're just not strong enough”, “stupid, lazy, unorganized”….  I can go on.
 
But what I want you to know you may be stuck because EXACTLY the opposite is true.  In fact, it is because you ARE so powerful, because ARE so clear of what you want and because you DO WANT it so bad that it can SEEM SO HARD. 
 
In fact, it can feel really overwhelming to think of all the things you THINK you have to do to get what you want.  That feeling of overwhelm could distract you from the present moment choices right in front of you that can actually make all the difference.
 
If this is resonating with you, my recommendation is instead of thinking of all of those things you think you have to do in the future…. Take a few breaths and come into the present moment. See what's in front of you and determine what small thing you could do right now here today that will bring you closer to that relationship with food that you want.
 
Maybe it's simple as eating your food in a non-distracted way or turning off your devices while you eat or planning to take time out for your next meal.  Maybe it’s spending some time in front of the mirror lovingly you putting lotion on your body and saying kind things to yourself or maybe taking some time to do a short walk around the block, taking a nap instead of reaching for food when you are actually tired…
 
Whatever it is, I encourage you to do one small thing in your present moment that you feel will serve you.  After all, it’s a matter of doing such small things more consistently that will truly help move things along. And finally get you what you want!!!
