The point of this video seems to be telling people that the pilot job isn't that good as some people can imagine. But when i am watching all of this shots from beautiful places and cockpit then even if you say the worst things, i still would want to be a pilot

One of the problems at hiring is that airlines take months to hire.

1. You finish MCC and start applying. Time is ticking, your license and ratings start to expire.
2. Airlines don´t answer or say no to you even if you comply with the requisits.
3. Weeks become months.
4. Probably you are invited to an assessment. You fail. You continue applying and failing assessments.
5. Your license expires. You need money to revalidate it.
6. You are not building hours and your last flight was 12 months ago.
7. It repits and repits...

Here’s the reality, the one and only reason to become a pilot is the love and passion for flying and aviation. Any other expectations will lead you to a sad miserable life. If you see it as a job them your doomed to fail

I flew nearly 18 years with up to 10 overnights per month. Spent great time, but the truth is, the crew is not replacing your friends and family. So it remains duty. Now, with point-to-point, every night in my own bed and fixed days off gives me more. Driving to the airport, flying 2 or 4 legs and going home again!

Being long haul captain for some time ago and made the long journey to be at the left seat, best adventure of my life, the satisfaction is only second to be a father, this career took my to fly over Omaha beach, visit Europe every month and different historical places, share with another aviation nerds at Airadventure, fly in warbirds, meet awesome people, Use yours skills and passion go and fight for yours goals is hard but worth it.

Hi Pascal, you truly made my day with this video.

I've always since I can remember wanted to become a pilot, but as I've gotten older have been having a hard time commiting. It's my biggest passion, I spend countless hours flightsimming in airliners around the world, but the whole ''hustle culture'' on social media made me forget that. Today I remembered the first thing I learned from my dad about work, and you confirmed it once more, ''no matter what, do something you love''. A grind with meaning makes a journey that's worthwhile.. Your video made me realise my idea was far to negative, completely forgetting the passion and experiences while zooming in on all the suboptimal parts.

This made me think: ''f it, lets at least start at what I know best and let life do the rest.''

Thanks man, love your work, on and off board!

The job stability thing was a major factor for me! Landed my first job in 2017, only to lose it 8 months later due to bankruptcy. Found another job later in 2018 only to lose it in 2020 due to the pandemic. Then had to take a 3 year hiatus from flying, doing a job on the ground, only to land another job with a major airline that was a HUGE disappointment! Now on my 4th airline job (and 4th type rating), hopefully set for life

I love to see that you explain the real things, not as what we are used to see on social media, where everyone tríes to “sell” you life is perfect. Thanks for sharing your realistic point of view, and also talking about money, that many times is a tabu, and is greatfull to hear someone experienced in aviation talking about it.

it's great to see you also talk about the negatives and the reality and what to expect when being a pilot! It's very interesting and a good reality check. Keep up the great work!

Nowadays I've realized that I may have to go to some sketchy places to fly to get my hours as the economy isn't doing that well, but I've accepted the cons. I'd have such a regret if I wouldn't do my best to get into aviation that it's not really even a choice not to go to flight school.

Ah yes thank goodness we have another Pascal video! Also great topic which I don't think gets spoken about enough to those who want this amazing career option.

One thing that has changed pretty recently is that most regional airlines at least in the US start first officers at $90+ an hour, and with the amount of flying happening now you can easily make 100k a year. It can be tricky to move on to mainline though.

This is my first time ever seeing this guy on YouTube, and he instantly became one of my favorite creators out there. His personality shines through with the informative content of his videos for such a marvelous blend of both. Good work!

Here's my 2 cents as an airline pilot (i fly in a lowcost airline)

Pros: decent pay (enough to fulfill basic needs, but don't expext luxury life), really not that hard of a job, you basically do nothing; a lot of day offs. And the most important pro - there is no boss in the cockpit, you always feel relaxed and unstressed (yeah, thunderstorms and gusty wings may be challenging, but remember to plan everything in advance, check weather and notams, no one is FORCING you to fly. You are payed to make boring and conservative decisions)

Cons: nightshifts are hard, but if you do a little fitness you'll be okay; you may be away during holiday season and family occasions.

If you want to FLY the airplane, enjoy the views etc, id rather get a better paying job/start a business and rent/buy a small plane and fly as a hobby. Touch and go's, aerobatic maneuvers are much more fun than cruising for 2 or more hours battling with your sleep.
