Leaving a backpack is like Leaving a purse. Big temptation!

I was taught never to leave any belongings in a vehicle, and if I really had to keep something in the car then keep it hidden/out of sight. Simple as that.

A LAPTOP? 35 uniforms? I would know the MOMENT I returned to my car if my lighter was missing. Plus, it was on the back seat in a TOTE BAG? Why didn't she at the very least, put it in the trunk? Plus, there are usually signs EVERYWHERE about the valet not being responsible for stolen or missing items. The Valets(or someone they knew) most likely stole the items, especially since it was parked away from all the other cars. However, she has no recourse and she practically gift wrapped the laptop/other items for the thieves.

You can't just accuse someone like that without proof. How would they like it if they were falsely accused about something and they couldn't prove your innocence? Think they were trying to shift the blame to someone else instead of realizing they have been stupid.

Valet parked my 74 Pinto wagon at McDonald's with a priceless Picasso painting in the back. McDonald's valet owes me 9.6 billion dollars.

I once valeted my BMW 3 series, a very expensive ultra luxury car, to eat at a mediocre steak house and realized my $20B of Nazi gold retrieved by Captain America was missing along with my Walkman and the Hope Diamond. I’m like, what the heck man! My Walkman!

The plaintiff is not so bright....why would you leave a $4000 laptop in your car. She could have taken it inside her home and left it before heading to dinner smh

It's impossible for the plaintiff to prove her case. She claims the bag was in the back seat on Saturday. She didn't notice it was gone until Sunday afternoon. Then, later on Sunday, she opened her trunk and discovered other things were missing. How can she blame the parking attendant ? She doesn't know, when her stuff got stolen. Don't ever leave bags in your backseat. It would've taken her 2 seconds to turn on the light (inside) the car on Saturday, and made sure her bag was still in the back seat. I'm not sure I necessarily believe her.

She stated that her car auto locks after so many seconds so how would "the college students in the area" get in?

She's just irresponsible, you don't ever leave valuables in your car, she was too lazy to take them in when got she home, if she had, she would have noticed they were missing then.

I’m surprised she didn’t claim the Hope Diamond was in the car.

I think where she messed up at is she didn't get that bag out of her car the same night and it could have possibly been stolen out of her car when she got home. Who knows. But you gotta smart about these things.
Also she waited until the next day. Who knows.

This is exactly why I don't do valet! About 24 years ago, one of my best friends had her brand new camera stolen from her car on the night of her birthday. It was the birthday gift I bought her and we went out dancing. We knew for a fact that it was stolen but it was impossible to prove it. The restaurants and nightclubs are not responsible because the valet service is a third party company. There's always that one shady employee so its best not to take any chances. Don't forget all they have to do to burglarize your home is look at your address on your registration in your glove box, take a pic with their phone, and make a copy of your key while you're enjoying a nice long dinner. Don't be so trusting!

I woke up one morning to find my car had been ransacked. All my belongs strewn over the street, credit cards stolen, IDs gone, and so much more. I am also the type to have a house on wheels with my car. I kept thinking my car was broken into but like the plaintiff there were no signs of forced entry….turns out even though I “locked” my car my key battery had died and I overlooked the fact that my car did not beep or make a locking sound. I was also exhausted from studying all day and was so out of it that I overlooked details that could have otherwise saved me.
