Bike4Chai 2013

7/31-8/1 2013: The annual Bike4Chai two-day cycling tour changed the lives of our bikers, and the lives of over 450 children battling illness. Beginning at the Jersey Shore and concluding in Glen Spey, NY, with a triumphant entrance into Camp Simcha Special, this year's bike ride exceeded all expectations as 300 cyclists trekked 175 miles while raising more than $2,800,000.

Since 1987, Chai Lifeline and its affiliates' mission has been to restore the light of childhood to children whose innocence ended when life-threatening or lifelong illness was diagnosed.

Through programs that address the emotional, social, and financial needs of seriously ill children, their families, and communities, Chai Lifeline restores normalcy to family life, and better enables families to withstand the crises and challenges of serious pediatric illness.

Each summer, 450 seriously ill children are treated to unforgettable, medically supervised overnight camp experiences at Camp Simcha, for children battling cancer and other hematological illnesses, and Camp Simcha Special, for children with debilitating chronic conditions.

At Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special, children and teens trade hospital rooms and doctors' offices for fun, friendship, and hope for the future. Campers enjoy traditional camp activities in fully handicapped-accessible facilities. Talent shows, concerts, and helicopter, hot-air, and motorcycle rides make every day super-special.

Campers return home reinvigorated, with deep friendships and happy memories to help them travel the rough road ahead.

As the parents of one of the riders, we are in awe of the whole event.Our son, Nussie, rode in memory of his brother, Dovid, who passed away eight years ago.The ahavas yisroel that was so apparent in everyone there, just made everyone feel so good. A wonderful organization that does so much for so many and needs so much more to keep doing. We pray that no one needs them, but we also pray that everyone helps them while they are needed.
