Gloria Lynne 'I Wish You Love'

I have previously uploaded Keely Smith's excellent version of "I Wish You Love," but here is another terrific version recorded by Gloria Lynne in 1963 on the Everest label, reaching #28 on the Billboard Hot 100, #10 on the Easy Listening, and #3 on Cashbox Magazine's R&B chart in 1964. It was included in the LP of the same name which is available on CD on Essential Media. The song was originally written in French by Charles Trenet and the English lyric by Albert Beach. I do not own the right to the song, audio, or images contained in this video. The sound recording is administered by IODA. No copyright infringement is intended. As we used to call her in Chicago, "Glorious Lynne" knew how to caress the notes, embrace the lyrics, express the sentiment, and serenade the listener. No need to push. Loved her.

This is the definitive version of this classic song. That honeyed voice, that phrasing, she really knew the best way to showcase the music and lyrics. Gloria Lynne never gained the fame she deserved, but this song will always bring her to our hearts.❤

This was Gloria Lynne's song. She nailed it every time. We met and became friends. She was a wonderful person and a terrific singer.

ONE OF THE EASIEST BREAK UP SONGS I’VE EVER HEARD.
MY MOM AND DAD USE TO LISTEN TO ALL THE GREATS. WHEN THEY PASSED AWAY, I BECAME KEEPER OF ALL, OF THEIR MUSIC. AND I MEAN ALL. BREAKING UP IS NEVER EASY. BUT THIS “SONG” PUT IT ALL INTO PERSPECTIVE FOR ME. WHEN YOU TRULY LOVE SOMEONE, YOU WANT THEM TO BE HAPPY. EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO BE THE ONE TO LET GO. WHATS MEANT FOR YOU, IS TRULY MEANT FOR YOU. AND WHATS NOT MEANT TO BE, YOU SET IT FREE. “LET GO”
AND “LET GOD”🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏

Although I love all the other versions of this song, this will always be the definitive version. My mother used to play Gloria Lynn often when I was a kid, and I did not appreciate this voice until I “borrowed” some of her jazz albums and just listened. I have been a fan ever since. I thought about playing this at my mother’s funeral, but I am not sure I could have handled it, especially the line that says “And in July a lemonade to cool you in some leafy glade.” My mother was born in July.

My mom played this song when I was a child; I still know the words verbatim! They hit different these days as a 57 yr old!

This song I sang in my High School production. When I started my professional singing career this song was always my opening number. I am now 75 and did a recording again of this song for a reunion of that first High School performance. . This will always be a song near and Dear to my heart.

A great classic by Gloria Lynne. The best version about letting go of a love that could never be. I wish she got the proper credit for this gem.

The voice quality -- even aside from the beauty of the song -- is remarkable. I'm glad I was there and a young man when it was popular.

My mom loved this song and when Xmas came she had me and my brother Rick go to Woolworths and purchase a Gloria lynne album. We brought back the wrong one and she told us to go back and get the right one, "I wish you love, ". Miss her so much: RIP Rita McCollins
