Electro-Etch Copper with salt water - Trial 2

Trial 1 HERE:

This is the successful follow-up video to the previous attempt to etch copper electrically.
This time, I increase the voltage, add a new negative piece of metal, as well as change the orientation of the copper in the salt bath.
This etch only took one hour.

The next time I do this I will use a vertical type bucket (think trash can) so I can mount the +- leads on either side so things will fall downward and keep the upper portion where the etching is occurring a bit cleaner.

Please comment and subscribe! I appreciate it! Click the thumbs up if you liked this video !

Thanks for watching!

Great videos! I saw someone use a 12 volt battery charger for the current. He was etching steel for a knife blade. It worked great!

next time you experiment with this method of electro-etching, try angling the positive and negative (anode and cathode) plates facing sideways but directly at each other, the sediments should fall down just like you were talking about but the point is that the electricity is going directly to the opposite plate.
you may have better results in even less time, this is how we electro plate gold at my work, the anode and the cathode is pointed directly at each other, allowing the flow of electric current to hit exactly what you want but any bubbles created fall straight down-
just a thought

Umm, doesn’t that give off some pretty nasty chlorine gas?

best bitumen diluted a bit in gasoline, paint over, dry and scratch the pattern, letters, it is possible under a microscope, and etch ....
