NASCAR used leaded gasoline until 2007. That might explain why those dudes were so insane back then.

Fun fact:
When NASCAR made the switch to unleaded fuel, there was a noticeable increase in children test scores living around the race tracks

Yeah, Ethanol is a pretty good combustable fuel, but it's also pretty corrosive, especially to gaskets and seals. Most race cars that run high-ethanol fuels have a way to purge the fuel system after a race, and the rest have special machines to do it.

"Why is NASCAR fuel green?"

Because they dye it.

Cause when I think of the green initiative I think NASCAR

I had thought it was dyed so that if/when there's a fuel fire, it's visible

Short answer: The fuel isn’t green, the unnecessary dye is

Better for the environment is arguable. I like e85 and there is so much potential with the fuel, BUT, agricultural practices, with the large space needed for corn and monoculture can deteriorate the environment.

I say we use whatever fuel we can use, a balance of how we obtain our fuel will be dictated mostly by the cost. If it’s cheaper in the long run then it’s probably more green

I mean high quality street fuel is almost clear with a slight blueish color. Especially higher octanes.
Lower quality fuel can have a slight yellowish color. It’s a misconception that fuel is ultralight yellow like Apple juice. Is read somewhere that no one really knows when or why people started believing gasoline had a bright golden/yellow color

The report that states ethanol helps lower emissions was written by a group that was paid for by the ethanol lobby. There are tons of studies that show ethanol does not lower emissions.

Fun fact, the emissions released by the farming of corn that is used to make ethanol is higher than the emissions that would have been released by leaving in the gasoline

Corn ethanol is worse for the environment than just burning gasoline

E85 remains the king of fuel to this day. Australia just makes everything better

They could run them on straight moonshine wich is about 190-200 proof wich has 109 octane

Ah yes, i absolutely LOVE this initiative! Afterall, the most pollution generated by nascar is their cars, definitely not all the logistics behind the scenes which are conveniently forgotten about.

I knew it was something about nascar that didn’t add up. Now it all lines up 😂
