No. 1 Alabama annihilated No. 22 Auburn 42-13 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium in the 85th edition of the Iron Bowl. Alabama's biggest stars shined bright over the 60-minute game, which saw quarterback Mac Jones make his latest statement for Heisman Trophy consideration completing 18 of 26 passes for 302 yards with five touchdowns.

Jones became the first signal caller in Iron Bowl history to throw five touchdowns in one game, and it was his seventh game in 2020 with 2+ scores through the air.

Coach Nick Saban was unable to lead the Crimson Tide on Saturday after receiving a positive COVID-19 diagnosis during the week. Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian stepped in as interim coach, but Saban watched along from home and was impressed with his team's performance.

"I'm really happy with the result, I can tell you that," Saban told CBS Sports' Jamie Erdahl by phone after the game. "... We didn't finish exactly like we'd like, but I'm really proud of our team and proud of our players. ... It's a great win. It's always great to win this game, the Iron Bowl. It's something special to the people of Alabama."

Najee makes me want to go outside and just sprint. Love me some Devonta Harris. I've got my eye on Metchie. I pray for these young men to have a successful and healthy football career.

No Saban and they still ran through Auburn like a fat kid through a package of Oreos.

I know everyone loves the miracle wins and the high scoring shootouts, but I love these kinds of iron bowls, the ones were we bet the hell out of Auburn

Here's the reality- you may win a miracle game at Jordan Hare- but you will get a good old fashion beat down at Bryant Denny.

The development of this Alabama team has been both significant and impressive. Tip of the hat to our coaching staff and also to the hard work of our players. Mac Jones play this year speaks for itself, but our defense - I've not seen this many excellent open-field tackles in quite some time. Salute! and Roll Tide Roll.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I liked the fact that even though Auburn had no chance of winning, they fought to the end! Alabama was just too much! Would absolutely Love to see a matchup between Ohio State and Alabama! ❤️

FINALLY!! Alabama's defense played to the standard that is expected of them. This is the best I've seen their defense play in a few years. Instead of being out of position when they tried to tackle behind the line of scrimmage they, were wrapping up and running to the ball. Heck, them running to the ball and attacking, was something I was starting to believe was a thing of the past.
Not seeing opposing running backs beat them to the corner and get an easy six or seven yards or run up the middle right through them like they weren't even there — again, was refreshing.
Maybe, just maybe, if their defense can play with this kind of intensity they wouldn't be humiliated by Ohio State or Clemson.

Congratulations Bama. As an Auburn fan, of course it's a defeat, but hey, I'm happy for the Tide. And War Eagle!! 👍👍👍👍

Mac Jones did pass for 5 TDs in this Iron Bowl, but Tua passed for 6 in 2018 if I recall correctly. Over the last 3 seasons Alabama has passed for 15 TDs against Auburn. That's more passing TDs against Auburn than any other team Alabama's played since 2018.
