It took me a long time playing this game to realize that you can't just place a doctor's office, patient rooms, labs, operating rooms, and other rooms in a logical placement.
You have to keep all the rooms in each "department" together, and every department has to have every room even if that means you have duplicate rooms, as if your hospital was a bunch of separate "buildings" inside one big building.

The thing is because of a stupid mechanics in the game, the HDUs get occupied much more than the regular ward, so I'd keep more space for HDUs in certain departments than regular wards.

This was helpful to understand the workflow of the hospital, 50 hours of gameplay and I never found that window. One thing still confuses me though about hospitalization is why certain patients are clogging up my beds? On numerous occasions I’ll find someone hospitalized for some minor injury that only requires numbing ointment or a bandage for treatment and there they are, laying in a bed in my HDU. Is this because maybe the clinic doctor they saw was an intern? You mentioned building up labs and radiology for lack of diagnostic info but all I’m lacking right now is a CAG room. Why is a patient that’s fully treated for a minor injury when the diagnosis is at 100% being hospitalized in HDU?

The first couple of hospital i build always collapse because money, and i probably go overboard with decorations

Are corridors important for each department? I was wondering if it matters in terms of their respective waiting areas. Or could i just ignore corridors and place the department and their required necessities like waiting areas and other rooms (toilet, maintenance room, etc.)

One of the insurance company objectives is to build a specialised department. However I still don't know what specialised department is or how to make it. Don't you know by any chance? :D
