Beginner Strum Patterns - 6 Essential Strums for Beginners

Hi, I’m Lauren Bateman, and in this video, I’ll teach you six essential strumming patterns perfect for beginners! 🎸 We’ll start simple and gradually work our way up to late-beginner techniques, focusing on timing, smooth transitions, and building your confidence.

I’ll begin with whole note strumming on the E minor chord and introduce the easy C chord, helping you master timing while making chord changes less daunting. Then, we’ll progress to half notes, quarter notes, and even eighth note strumming, where we’ll incorporate up-strums for more dynamic rhythms. Throughout, I’ll share tips to keep your strumming hand consistent and your playing musical—even if your chord transitions aren’t perfect yet.

By the end of this lesson, you’ll have the tools to start playing real songs, like “Eleanor Rigby” by The Beatles, and create your own musical moments. 🎶
