I totally agree. It really depends on how much money you have and how often you are going to use that tool. Harbor Freight is great most of the time (especially with the 20% discount). My 18V cordless Drill Master drill has been actually pretty good. Would I like to have a Milwaukee. Absolutely. I've learned in life that sometimes you just can't buy certain things cheap. Like when it comes to auto parts don't buy a re manufactured water pump or a starter.

You might find this hard to believe but 12 years ago when i built a pole barn I bought a cheap black and decker drill. I still have it and it works after replacing the battery pack once.

Good info butter. Being a heavy diesel mechanic, I say the big tool brands (Snap On, MAC, Cornwall, Marco, etc.) have their place. You figure out over time what will last and work from places like Harbor Freight and box stores. Second hand is always a good way to go on tools. Stay warm!

My tools are from ebay/walmart, diy style tools, In 35 years i have only bust a few spanners, and I abuse tools to hell and back. even my roll about tool chest is some old filing cabinets with some 4 inch castors welded on the bottom, served me well for 20 years.
i dont throw good money at tools just because of some marketing gimmicks that a spanner can take 600ftlbs, so what if mine can only take 200, I cant pull 200! and what nuts need 200 on a sedan sized car???
marketing gimmicks, no I let others fall for that, the ones with all the gear and no idea....

The Craftsman name was bought by Lowes. The return policy is the same regarding Craftsman tools!
