I can’t believe people are actually saying this song is about Joe only. Lol wuh? This song is so much more and it’s obviously a playful way at poking fun at how many British guys she’s dated. The lyric is “you know I love a London boy.” If it was about Joe only, it’d be “you know I love *my* London boy.” Plus the line “god I love the English” is also poking fun at that. Of course the main person this is about is Joe, like when she says “he likes my American smile.” Obviously that part is about Joe and really most of the song is about Joe in the details. But to me, this song is like blank space part 2, except this time, the media was saying “omg she has such a type - she’s dated so many British guys” and she was like “yup, I love a London boy I must admit.” Taking that away and making this song solely about Joe and not realizing how this is another middle finger to the media’s rumors is doing a disservice to the cleverness of the song.
